Radio promos are good for a new business, if you have a contest or offer. I have found the best is networking, the more you get your product out there the better., if you can see em, you can sell em, IMO

Too right Nightrider I hear ya,
Don't get me wrong I said almost impossible,im still trying it just seems to be a numbers game the more hits I give the better the chance.
And I hear you about swimming with the sharks and im not getting out of the water. Was just fishing for a bit of advice on maybe something I can do different, the last thing I want is someone to hand it to me, no satisfaction in that.
I believe that is what this post is for, to help each other out (the Genuine).
I have laid out about 30k so far and the equip was all just under 15k the rest has been marketing and advertising and there has been lots wasted through trial and error, and its starting to hurt.
I would be glad to give my advice on what experience I have gained so far if it meant I could save someone some money, wether it could relate to them that's up to them it would only be mine or anyone else's 'opinion'.
Regarding the post I put up I can see how it may seem.
All the best.
Babs.

Babs, with all respect to you and your family, education in any field come with a price tag.......learn by trial & error, pay for a marketing course, buy books on marketing or just make a whole lot of mistakes and when you learn that you learned nothing.........take the right steps to an education in the field of your choice.......in your case marketing of a service.
Don't think that everybody is in bed together, that's just a cop-out, learn how to get into the circle instead..........you have to offer the customer something more that the rest either on a personal level or business level.
Not every body is willing to hand down tried sucessful secrets to another FREE of charge just for the asking, because what you're asking is " Tell me what it cost you so much money & time to learn for FREE, so that I can be sucessful " That's a wrong approach. You have to learn to swim with the sharks or get out of the water.

Ahhhh that's what they are!
worth giving it a try. So far I have been distributing flyers 30 thousand at a time, local paper and referrals.
They have been working fine but I need more enquiries
And I'm not shy to ask for those referrals and people have no hesitation in recommending my work. I'm a walking talking billboard. I know it will pay off in the long run, that's not my concern its the short term. I need to feed the little ones.
Though it sometimes comes down to not what you know rather than who you know.
Its almost impossible to get large commercial jobs to even try your services, time factors, facility managers have buddies in bed with them or they just don't care for the quality, there attitude is we live in a throw away world.
I have been racking my brains with getting banks and offices. General cleaning companies have the contracts and allot of them don't allow for or even bother with steam cleaning, unless specifically requested by the client, which is normally the facilities manager, what a vicious circle.
Any ideas? |

Yellow page ads are for the lazy. All you have to do come with somthing once year. Unfortunatley you have to pay for it every month and your stuck with that ad all year. As stated above door hangers buy a mailing list most things that get good results require a little work and persistence.

Yellow book locks you in for a year. You get shoppers and can not change your ad. They try to sell you saying that "we have to reup you in 8 months and if your not happy they wont be able to reup you, blah blah blah yada yada yada. They take your cash and run and tell you about all these Fing local and big books. WASTE OF MONEY.
Do door hangers. Even if they don't want to look the have to.
Even though your a competitor there is pleanty of business in queens and especially the city. STAY AWAY FROM THE YELLOW PAGES and long term commitments. If it works any advertiser will let you go week to week and give you credit. Otherwise they are just trying to game you.
