Most carpet cleaners who have hot water extraction have a closed one-track mind, the same as I had for many years.

If you haven't tried it...don't knock it. I am talking about OP and Cymex. In some cases you won't believe your eyes. They actually give a better, cleaner look. Take someone up on a demo or better yet, a challenge!

If I make it up to Las Vegas in September, I'll be looking forward to those demos. My partner and I have talked a lot about the Cymex for "down the road."

Cymex is going to be the death of the industry as we know it....  It's going to roll back sq ft pricing....property managers are buying them and putting carpet cleaners out of business.

It is the easiest do it yourself SOLUTION. really it is and the cost is very small for great results...resluts even a novice can get.

You are absolutely right Steamer. If WalMart finds out about Cymex and Proxi we will al be out of business. Thank god there are busy and lazy people who will always need service techs. As I see it with less carpets being installed and chemical equipment manufacturers making it easier to clean, it will reduce the number of people entering the carpet cleaning industry.

Now the good news is the ones who are left will be the dedicated professionals who will demand and get good money for the value they perform.

The customer looking to go cheap will have to do it themselves.

Everybody knows how to cook.......yet they still go to restaurants

Everybody knows how to paint a wall...yet they still hire painters

Everybody can wash their car....but they still use carwashes and pay

The list goes on..while education is good to have, it has created a society of high tech minds & 2 parent income with a limited time allowance for manual labour around the household.......I can assure you that the future of service or manual labour professions will be far more lucrative than the white collar market........you will soon see more guys with dirty jeans driving a B.M.W than the guy sporting a $ 2000 suit

nightrider I think you have missed the point...

cymex is a walk behind machine...very easy to use...Lots of big commercial companies already have a JANITOR ie High Rises...

why would they want to pay you .20 a sq ft to do their halls or what ever, when they can get the janitor do walk behind that damn machine for much much less...

I've seen this happen in two cases now...carpet cleaners lost their contract to in house service...

we aint talkin residential ... we talkin commercial...where they already have lots of cheap 10 dollar an hour manual labour

once people see how easy it is, it'll go in house

I agree with Steamer on this one. The Cimex will continue to bring down commercial rates as an ever increasing amount of the work gets done in-house. Any chimp can run that machine. Not so with OP cleaning. There is still enough skill to that method that rates should stay high enough on small commercial and most residential.Tongue

Steamer,

Getting 20 cents a sq. ft. on commercial is next to impossible and getting worse. Why doesn't a carpet cleaner purchase a Cymex, get rid of 20 cent thinking and charge what they want to hear...4 cents per sq. ft.

One man Cymex 3500 sq. ft per hour = $140.00 per hour.

I could live on that.

I borrowed a cimex from a local cleaner and tried out encap

I was unimpressed

rented a 175 rpm rotary and tried another kind of juice

still unimpressed

it's interim cleaning at best

IMO
