77748 Glad you are still hanging there. I know thw Astro was not the best plan. But you will over come it. good luck. Get yourself a nice used 3/4 Savana or Express. I say this because I have always used GM as they have the best weight displacement. Try and find a used extended van you won't be sorry. Good luck

I remember starting out looking for a truck mount found a Cleanco Charger with 500 hours. Night and day versus portable units and dry bonnet cleaning. Steam cleaning is the real deal. Running great now have 155 hours on it. No problems at all. Cost 8,000 dollars which included reels & hoses, waste tank. Now the van bought a used Chevy ASTRO 2000. jUNK jUNK jUNK. Within two months transmission goes out. Third month Power Steering goes out. Fourth month ball jont pops and I am ice skating on the freeway. Put lots off money in it as far as shocks, brakes, and lifting it so it can take the load of a truckmount. Cleaning with a truckmount costs lots of gas, repairs and remember truck mount also guzzles gas as well not to mention advertising and chemicals and tools. Got to have the gift of the gab cannot just do 59.95 for two rooms got to sell enzal, scotchguard deoderizer. Also get skills take a IRC class.

I haven't used any of the brand name truck mounts that you guys are talking about, so I can't comment on any of them...as for me, I am a Pro Chem fan...in '99, bought a new Pro Chem and put it in a new Dodge Ram 2500 van...it has an excellent heat exchange system and plenty of power...but the thing I really love about it is that I haven't really spent very much on maintainence at all...I'd say about $450 in 5 yrs...it has hardly had any down time on it at all...it was a struggle to make those payments every month, but I paid it off last Sept. and it still works like a champ...I spent 20 yrs trying to maintain used equipment and I have come to the conclusion that it is much cheaper just to buy new and upgrade every 6-7 yrs...JMHO

Ron, How did you land the 40K deal? Im asking because Im new! Also, talk to Ted about a new one? If you have 10 K, they will finance the rest. Pay for it over 5-10yrs, its cheaper than repairing them. He had a Cleanco with 400hrs on it 16K mounted in your truck. I saw a 04 chev van for 20k. I realize this is more than you 10K but with 10k, your asking for a headache Food for thought! Thats all |

Don, You hit the nail right on the head. Truckmounts can be one big pain in the a**. But I would never go back into the cleaning business without one. More so now that they can marry up to tools for cleaning all types of hard surfaces. |

I have had my share of lemons to. I am beginning to think there is some kind of ratio of hours of down time to hours of operation programmed into the some machines from new.

Buying a truckmount is like going to the casino, sometime you win and more than likely you will lose. Bought many a new unit over the years and some days I wish I had never seen a truckmount. You certainly need to be mechanical to keep these things running. Best investment I ever made was a lift truck so we can pull our units out of the truck to work on them, as they are a pig to work on in the truck, got the lift truck for a $100.00 it has paid for itself many a time over.
