"Well, I just don't feel the carpets were as cleaned as well as they could have been"-customer

"ma'am, what is the problem?"- me

"well, the guys finished 4 rooms in an hour and a half, I just don't see how they could do all of that in an hour and a half. Plus I spent $150. They should have been here longer than that for $150"- customer

"is there anything wrong with the carpet?"- me

"well, I found a string on it that should have been vacuumed up"-customer

"and"-me

"well, nothing really visible, it's just they went so fast. There is a pet stain that is still there. They pre-treated everything but it's still there"-customer

"well, pet stains are acidic and blah blah blah blah"-me "what can I do to make you happy?"

"I would just like someone to come out and re-clean. I think I could have done the same thing by going to home depot and renting a rug doctor"-customer

"well, I don't think a rug doctor is going to operate at 25 horse power with 550 CFMs of vacuum and 500 PSI of water at 250 degrees. That is why we spend $45,000 on our units and vans. The rug doctors are one and a half horse power machines.

Well, our guarantee states if you are not happy for any reason we will come back out no questions asks, we'll see you on Thursday"-me

Hope all you do is go back out and take note of the issues she has and sell her protection and throw in an lazyboy chair cleaned free.  She gets something for nothing and you get something for doing almost nothing.  But take your time with it Big%20smile

You might want to get her to sign off on a total satisfaction statement along with the 1 year stainguard warranty.  And don't forget to get 5 referrals and ask if you can take pictures of the carpet and feature it on your website along with her story about how you honored your guarantee.  You can always call her and her referrals and direct them to look at that story.  Everyone loves having their 15 minutes of fame.

I would not have gone back..........I would have told her that after the winter we would go back and clean for half price, plus issue a coupon for 25% discount on the cleaning after that.

But we all do things our own way.

We have gave that guaratee for over 25 years. I can count the amount of redos on one hand. I am not in the practice of recleaning because someone thinks it was done too fast. If you know your biz you should be able to explain how experience and traiing and the proper equipment allow you to clean as you do. If they are plain and simply not happy with the results that is a different story.  I never ok a redo over the phone that is one thing i want to see personally as I have had people spill things or animal accidents since it was cleaned all those things make people unhappy since they just paid to have it cleaned. You have to qualify all those things.Guitar

I know I'm new to carpet cleaning and all, but even before I started cleaning carpets I knew a rug doctor could not do as good of a job as a professional. Especially with the chemicals they give you and with someone running the machine that knows NOTHING about carpet cleaning.

Last week I had a customer call to cancel with me because he decided to rent a rug doctor instead. I've been seeing a lot of Rug Doctor commercials lately and their marketing seems to be working pretty well by making people think they can clean their carpets just as good as a professional. I swear that you could have the worst product, but if you have good marketing you will sell it.

I saw this on TV about two weeks ago and when they showed you can clean carpets with it I almost died:

If people really think this thing will clean the carpets better then a professional, I really don't know what to think about them.

Don't kid yourself. I have a man who gets as much as $300.00 to clean a living roo. He cleans with a plastic pail a scrub brush and a shopvac. What a scam but he has a very loyal following. They think he is the grteates thing since sliced bread.  for the RD with the right person and chems probably could giv most of you a run for your money with regards to results.Guitar

Yes it is true, with lots of dry passes and good air movement you could do OK with a POS Rug Doc.Unhappy
