"The PADMAN really knows his stuff and represents some terrific
equipment for this Industry. I know this because I have personally met
the man, seen his presentation; seen it work in action; witnessed the
quality..................and the personal attention that he and his
lovely wife give to each and every person.
He and his company, and integrity should seriously be considered if anyone is in the market for this type of equipment."
Ed, I'll have to agree with you on that. I recently bought some Gladiator Pads from his company, dealing with his wife via email. Had a small technical glitch in payment yet she still sent stock on trust as I needed it for another demo day I'd organised and those pads were to be part of the demo. Stock made it here 6 days later- and the day before the demo, which was awesome given I'm on the west coast of AUSTRALIA, not USA (and I'm glad to say my payment issue was resolved before they arrived!), but I couldn't help being impressed by their professionalism and willingness to help someone on the other side of the planet, whom they didn't know from a bar of soap and could just as easily put into the "too hard basket"! If all businesses were run like theirs, we'd all be happy chappies, but many are not, so Padman and Co (www.ccsop.com) should get due recognition for their service. They're also one of the few companies I've yet to hear bad feedback on so kudos for you guys... PS I notice the still sell HWE gear as well |

"If I want your opinion I will flush twice"
you'll hafta change your tag there in that case mate, maybe to something like "If I want your opinion, I'll wipe once...?" PS, how do you figure HWE pushes dirt further down and where is your evidence of it? I can show you documented evidence of the opposite if you want to go into pedantics, but I still say on low level piles OP rules. It simply isn't up to it the deeper a pile gets, it just gets too slow and cumbersome and that's where a properly done HWE will win out. (Note I said properly done, not splash'n'dash!) I know for you, doing mainly commercial work, you'd be choosing OP as do I, but in the residential sector I pick and choose and if I get to a really nasty one, HWE then follow up with OP and then you'll see C-L-E-A-N!!! And by the way, with regards to wicking, personally I've never had a wickback with HWE on any job in the last 13 years since getting proper training to show me how to avoid those scenarios. Right cleaning agents, right temperatures, right water pressures, agitation and suitable extraction all come into play on any job you do, including OP! Get any part of the equation wrong and you will end up with problems... Saw a guy here who thought an encap was the be all and end all and figured that any amount poured into a carpet was ok so he flooded one, scrubbed it & walked away- till the next day when the customer called him back and he had to deal with wickback and browning on a major scale! He simply got the equation wrong and BINGO, one big problem for him to sort out and an unhappy customer. He still uses the system now, but has had to learn from his mistake, just as everyone should learn from their mistakes. He could've turned around and said the system was crap, but it wasn't- he was in that instance. At least he had the guts to admit it, deal with it and learn from it. No system is perfect (of course inless I'm doing it hahahaa!!) and the sooner everyone gets a grip on that the better. HWE pushes dirt down deeper where it can begin it journey back to the top through wicking. I keep mine for urine and similar extractions with the claw. Safe to say it hasn't been fired up in 5 months.
With a bonnet or OP there is less equipment to load and unload. And the results catch my customer's eagle eye. It is like waving a magic wand as the soiled areas come clean with a single pass. This is easier than using an eraser on a piece of paper. All VLM methods I have seen reign supreme. |

OP is good, but when you have spillages that have soaked right through e.g. urine, that's where it falls down and cannot match HWE, especially not if you happened to have a Claw.
Having said that, on an average soiled commercial job, OP is King! Simply a case of the right tool for the right job in the right context. |

Hi Rick, got me one of the Challenger machines, albeit highly modified form when I took delivery of it. New one to look out for is the Orbot, am awesome piece of machinery in this sphere of cleaning, rivalling the Cimex for speed (has a 21" pad attachment option!) but 10 kgs lighter and able to be folded up and put into the boot of a car!!
Easy to use, very spacey/futuristic looking, if I didn't have so much time and effort put into my current machine and it working so well for me, I'd be buying an Orbot, no questions asked! Use either machine with Fibre Touch pads and/or Gladiator Pads and you won't look back! Having said that, it is not the be-all and end-all, with heavy staining/soiling you will still need an extractor of some description, especially if dealing with something like urine, but as a cleaning system it is impressive overall; in commercial applications; indispensable! On a carpet that you'd normally consider throwing away, put the two systems together i.e. HWE first then encap over it and you will be thoroughly amazed at how well it works. Want any proof, PM me your email address and I'll send you plenty of before and after shots that'll have you scratching your head wondering how the hell it was possible to restore a carpet that you'd normally wanna walk away from to such a high level, and still do it at a price that would be a fraction of the replacement cost; got some very grateful and high-paying customers out of this way of doing things! (over 70c/sqft, at least here in Australia I can) |

I am leaving the porty to commercial jobs requiring HWE and going to focus on this low moisture solution. Mine is a green company so you are right FreshAire that the primary motivation is a greener answer to the soiled carpet question. Of course, the fact that the physical strain involved is less is of course a valuable point too being 56 now.

They pay for licensing rights in some areas, in other areas the only watering they rely on is what falls from above as there is no usable water for irrigation... our claim to fame after all is that we are the driest continent on this planet

Hey Freshaire does the agricultural industry have water restrictions there? Cause they sure use more than our industry does. Just curious. Good points though. |

Soil Lint, that's a good way to start and does get good results, however if you go over to OP dedicated machinery and cleaning agents I can pretty well guarantee you'll be hooked.
My truck mount gets used less and less I find, my portable not at all, saving me $'s in fuel and maintenance not to mention benefits to the environment both it not running an engine pumping out pollutants as well as saving massive amounts of water- a major consideration given that all of Australia is suffering from quite a few years of drought conditions with pretty much everyone under water restrictions! Also, if you have a machine set up like mine with an on-board solution tank and pump, you will be utterly amazed at how quick and efficient the system can be, even against the biggest and best truckmount available |
