  Dual fuels? Nothing heats like oil,nothing. And actually it is surprisingly strong when dual wanding. Watch for our upcoming video on the unit and it's performance.

you'd want a good pair of sunglasses to look into the back of that sucker when the sun hits it. Looks good but a tad over the top.
just needs the disco ball and 'staying alive' blaring out of the speakers for full pimp effect.

An elderly, (about 70), white-haired man walked into a jewelry store one Friday evening with a beautiful young blonde at his side.
He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend.

The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring.
The old man said, "No, I'd like to see something more special."

At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over.
"Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000," he said.

The young lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement.
The old man seeing this said, "We'll take it."

The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the old man stated, "By check.
I know you need to make sure my check clears so I'll write it now, and you can call
the bank on Monday morning to verify the funds and I'll pick the ring up on Monday afternoon," he said.
On Monday morning, the jeweler 'phoned the old man and said
"Sir, there's no money in that account."
"I know," said the old man, "but let me tell you about my weekend!"

Definitely discomania, not professional looking in my opinion. All show and no go and doesn't look like it was built to work but rather to reflect a shine. What is especially laughable is that after all that glitz, all he has is a cheapo truckmount in there. I don't know if this guy is a member here and I don't mean to offend him but this is my opinion and that setup is silly.

  I used to be a small thinker too. Then I stepped outside the norm and started building
set ups with the customer in mind,not cleaners. After all they pay our bills. So rather than go into all the semantics I will relay that we landed a 28k cleaning job by displaying it and it paid off the machine in one swipe. Read all about it here;

http://www.truckmountforums.com/general-carpet-cleaning-and-upholstery-discussion/13571-how-the-masterblend-el-d-landed-me-a-28k-job-now-w-pics.html

   And yes the El D is cheap in price but that is what makes it unique. It has the vacuum and heat performance that rivals 25k units. I love it and I'm in the process of switching my fleet over to them. We are preparing a video of it's performance and will release it soon. In the mean time here is a sample clip;

  To help cleaners break out of small thinking I created a video. You can find it at www.ridealongseries.com

Exactly how long do you expect that cheapo, Home Depot air cooled truckmount to last? Perhaps you got that job because the consumer was impressed with your disco setup but maybe it was because of a different reason. You failed to clarify.

At any rate, that generic cheapo truckmount hardly looks impressive for you to claim "Baddest Truckmount". It's good that your setup is clean but bad that it looks so pretentious and I am wondering how practical it is and how much maintenance it will require in order to keep the glitz show going. If you had a Hydramaster Titan 850 in there, it would give some credibility to your glamorous setup but with a K Mart special in there, it gives the impression of trickery. In my humble opinion, it would have been better to use a name brand truckmount with more conservative decor. If indeed the disco thing landed you a big job, then you are obviously right and I am wrong. I'm just not convinced that the disco on wheels thing got you the job. No offense meant.

The good news is, if your carpet cleaning business goes belly up, you could easily convert to a mobile strip club.

I think his whole point is that the customer can't tell it's a low-grade, bottom-feeder truck mount, and that's what his build is focusing on -  the customer.

Will a carpet cleaner be impressed with his sub-standard truck mount?  No.  But, how many carpet cleaners are going to be calling him for jobs?  He's taken a different idea - impressing the customer and designing around a good appearance for them.

I also think this setup would be very gay friendly.  They like things like this, and definitely would be impressed with the cleanliness and thought put into the aesthetic qualities of the setup.  And you can be sure after he gets one, and they are impressed with it, they will call their "girlfriends" and mention it.

There's definitely some upside in his approach.  It is tasteless?  Yes, of course.  Is it effective?  I think also, yes.  I think it's going to impress some customers in a way they weren't expecting, and even if it's 5% to 10%, considering word of mouth, it could be a lot.  And I doubt anyone would not use him just because they found his setup vulgar and gauche.  They just wouldn't like it, but it wouldn't effect their using him again.

All in all, I'd have to give him credit for adding this approach to his business.  I don't think it can hurt, but, in some situations, it can help.

It's funny that you mentioned that it would be gay friendly because I was thinking the same thing and I hope I didn't offend the owner in case he is gay. I'm glad somebody else made mention of that before I did. LOL.
 I agree that some customers don't know the difference between a South of The Border yard sale truckmount and a name brand one but he calls this thing, "The Baddest Truckmount on the Planet" and in doing so, opens himself up to staunch criticism.

TA152, you make some good points about his build being geared for the customer and I agree that visuals are important but my criticisms for his build are as follows.

How practical is the setup? Will the owner have to put in hours of labor in order to keep the metal shiny? Does the interior of the van give the impression of being a high tech work plant or a disco gimmick? Why did he put a low tech, discount truckmount in there instead of a name brand one? Was his build limited to a strained budget? If his budget was troubled maybe he should have bought a better truckmount instead of all that shiny sheet metal and painted on some bedliner protector like most professionals do. He called me a "small thinker" but most people here don't like his setup and he is having trouble coming to terms with it. I think most would prefer a clean looking truckmount setup that was refined to look good and make work easier. I noticed in the video that the truck involved looks like an old square headlight Ford, furthering my suspicion that he tried to compensate for a low budget build with shiny fluff. He might in fact fool some consumers but he will have to work with that on a daily basis and I wonder how practical the setup is.

LOL I apologize but does that truckmount actually say "El Diablo" on it? Did he sneak that junker over the border in some old school bus?

All customers are not carpet cleaners, but, all carpet cleaners are in fact customers . If carpet cleaners would just think like a customer they would have a simple inexpensive set up with low over-head and pocket the difference in profits. Who really cares what is parked outside, the results of a clean carpet and professionalism is what rocks the clients world . A fancy truckmount ( although nice to look at ) does nothing more than a garbage truck equipped with the same set up, all the bells , whistles , flashing lights, and a state of the art sound system is a fools playground, that impresses  only the fool who bought it.
