Air scrubber. An air scrubber is an
air filtration equipment used to eliminate
chemicals, gases, and other harmful particles
from the air. These pollutants can cause serious
health risks including some serious bronchial
conditions.
As a water damage restoration equipment, it
is used to purify the air after a room has been
exposed to severe flooding or water
contamination, which may have left some harmful
particles in the air. While some air scrubbers
are designed to remove only one of the mentioned
pollutants, you will be able to find some
machines that can remove all three contaminants
together.
There are two types of operations that an air
scrubber can do: wet scrubbing and dry
scrubbing. Wet scrubbing is when the air passes
through a wet pad or cloth and the unwanted
particles in it stick to the cloth. In dry
scrubbing, air passes through an air purifying
system containing alumina and other chemicals
that eradicate the pollutants before the air
exits the scrubber.
Air mover. An air mover is a water
damage restoration equipment that can
effectively remove water that has seeped into
your carpeting or upholstery. This is often used
when the water supply has been pumped out or
extracted and you now need to remove the excess
water that has stubbornly remained in the
affected area.
Not only are they more effective in removing
the excess water, but they can also dry carpets
and upholstery faster and without leaving behind
a musty, watery odor. This equipment is crucial
because the longer your carpets and other
upholstery stays soaked, the more damaged they
will be, so timely drying is necessary.
To use, just place them near the carpet or
upholstery that need to be dried. If possible,
lift the carpet or upholstery off the ground so
that all sides of it can be dried
simultaneously. There are also some air movers
that are specifically designed for use in
carpets, so they are called carpet dryers and
are classified as carpet cleaning equipment.
Dehumidifiers. A dehumidifier is a
must-have in any water damage restoration
project. Dehumidifers are useful investments in
a home that is often exposed to moisture or
water damage.
Although most dehumidifiers are not capable
of removing water by the buckets, this
particular water damage restoration equipment is
perhaps the only effective equipment that can
thoroughly remove excess water from the surfaces
of any of your household possessions.
Dehumidifiers cause the water to evaporate,
therefore leaving no trace of moisture at all.
A dehumidifier is a good water damage
restoration equipment to invest in because it is
extremely useful in minor water damage problems
wherein calling for professional water damage
restoration service is unnecessary. If you
decide to buy a dehumidifier, choose a low
temperature model with a humidity level of
around 50%; this gives you the additional
benefit of preventing the growth of mold and
mildew.
Professional water damage restoration
services may use high capacity dehumidifiers
that can actually remove large amounts of water
from large areas, but there are also some
dehumidifiers that are more appropriate for
personal or home use.
