Most of it drains with the tank. If you clean your tank out after every job, you have nothing to worry about. Does the oil not stick to the sides of the tank.......and smell like hell.

No, we have used WD 40 in a pinch when running portables. It puts a layer of oil on top of the water in the tank and stops foam from forming. CMASTER, sure WD 40 has defoaming ability, so does salt, and so does IPA.

They don't give you the most bang for your buck.

Have you evaluated defoamers on a 1:1 basis?

It's not hard.

Prepare 2 bottles, 25% full with a dilute foamy solution.

Using a small syringe, available from the drug store, add an equal amount of defoamers, usually less than 1 mL.

Shake both bottles together.

Observe results.

Repeat shaking to get an idea of initial foam kill and residual foam kill.

I am sure that you will see that WD40 is not a very good defoamer.

Neither is salt and IPA.
