Your choice??? In all my vans I have always used the rubber mat. Why not just put a nice 50 oz saxony in the van and make it look more appealing?? I personally don't think that is a place for carpet. The Great One is right. On our GM vans we removed the rubber mat than the sound suppression. Install the plywood, put a good heavy coat of sealer on the plywood than reinstall the rubber mat. But since it is a FORD I don't think they are worth preserving?? If your going to plywood use lots of tar to seal it and put a rubber matting on top....
 
once that plywood gets wet....eeeewwww

I am purchasing a new van and have decided to install the plywood myself to save a few bucks.  I should not have problems doing this myself, being as I worked rough-in carpentry for 2 years, however if anyone has any tips or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

My salesman gave me the type of screw that their install guys use. Also said to use 1/2 inch.  Then of course install the indoor/outdoor carpeting.

I am installing a boxxer 421 in a ford e-250 extended van.
