Hey guys,
I just registerd tonight and have been reading some good info on this board.
I have been wanting to get into this biz for a while now and I'm thinking of pulling the trigger soon........ Has the economy affected the biz much since we're in a recession?
I have budgeted $40k for 2 used rigs...Is it realistic to purchase 2 decent used vans with equipment for $40,000
Also I'm just trying to put together a budget wondering what the average chemical cost per house is???
Also wondering how many jobs most people try to do in one day?? Is 3-4 jobs realistic??
I live in the Dallas area any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Guys

If you are from the dallas area you may know Rob & James Smith from Dalworth Carpet Cleaning. It has been quite awhile since I have been to their place.  I think you should find enough work for one van first than go from there.

I concure with Doug............The problem with this business is all the cash that comes in.................it's hard to put it into your company account when you can buy a new toy for yourself. ( Off the record, I have lots of toys )

I am in the process of selling my construction company and plan to put about $75,000 into this biz.... I have a web marketing background prior to starting my construction biz so I'm confident I'll be busy enough to run two trucks I just don't know if $20k buys a decent rig....

If you can talk the talk and walk the walk in this business then its resession proof. But you need to offer more then just cleaning. Repairs , water restoration , various odor problems , dyeing.

Jobs per day depends on type of work and your experiance.

My wierdest job was a suicide where the lady killed her 14 cats before herself. The cats where left for me to dispose of. Think the name fits better now.

I'm also wondering if everyone here does Airduct cleaning too. I know it would be an upsell but is this a service I should offer from the start?? What percentage of people who get their carpets done also get the Airducts done??
Thanks

Is there someone on this board that would mind if I called them and asked a few questions I have too many to post on this board. If I could have about 10 minutes of someone's time that would really help me out.

We sell about 1/3 of our carpet cleaning customers air duct cleaning while we are there. It brings in over $50K per truck/year consistantly.
