I have to disagree with you.  Of all the customers calling me, I'd say that 70% of them are women.  The only marketing I do is through the search engines.  Go to yahoo and type in phoenix carpet cleaner, phoenix carpet cleaning, or any of the other cities close to me here in phoenix,AZ.  you will see that Im listed in the top six1, this gets me tons of phone calls from non price shopping customers.  They get to see my unique selling position and they are sold before they even pick up the phone.  I just close the appointment by not being a dumb@ss.  Internet marketing when done right pays big!!!

If you place your web address in all your advertising and your YP ad, people can go there and get a more in depth view of your business and the services that you offer. Makes for an easier sell.

I wouldn't expect local people to find you on a search engine, but it would help more if they did.

Most who are looking for this service are women, and women are far more likely to either ask a friend or relative for a referral or go to the Yellow Pages or the Coupon Mailers if their friends have not found anyone good. Women are not plugged in to the internet for service professionals.

better to spend the money for a client based marketing type referral program.

IMHO internet is not a good way to advertise CCing, put your money into other forms of marketing.
