From my experience this material is nothing more than a vaseline or other pertroleum based product with zinc oxide in it. You will need to used a solvent based product to solubilize the petroleum. A POG / Dry Wet Spotter should work or a high solvent content prespray like Heavy Duty and then a good rinse

zincofax is one of the leading diaper rash ointments... it's baby bum safe,you really don't have to attack it all out.....it should come out easy.

he didn't give you a picture of the stain????lol

Adwa,

Zinc ointment is diaper rash cream. I don't think the zinc isthe only problem, the first problem is the (cod liver oil, vaseline and lanolin)base. Even washing Desitn off a baby's skin takes a lot of work.The stuff is nasty!

The oinment is practicaly insoluble in water alone ( in spite of waterbeing a part of it's base), but is soluble in weak acetic (vinegarwater) and ammonia solutions. It is to be stored at COOL to roomtemperature, or it "melts". Soap (emulsifier to break up fats andolis) and WARM water are recommended for removal - from skin.

TEST try an emulsifier, or good paint/oil/grease product and hot water.
Can also try warm vinegar or ammonia water.

Zinc stains are difficult to remove as Zinc salts in essence are a dye- used in fabrics. (Seems the customer may ALREADY be aware ofthat!) Make sure the customer knows that the best effort will be given,but that complete removal can't be guaranteed.

Sometimes it good to be both a nurse and part of a carpet cleaning family.

Ted and Linda are on Holidays this week and I am holding the fort until they return.

I had a customer phone me and ask what he should use to take out an ointment that was smeared on his customers carpet that has Zinc as one of the ingredients. My customer said that his customer emphasized greatly on the fact that Zinc was in this ointment.

Is this a problem..........and what should I tell him to use to fix this problem?
