I don'have an exact answer to that. I stay below 140, and usually around 120. If I have the temp at 120, the heaters kick the temp up high enough that I get steam. I'm sure I'm not getting the steam that some others are getting, but I'm pretty happy.
    
Hypro piston pumps, for example, aren't supposed to go above 140. Plunger pumps aren't supposed to go above 180.

First off...If you purchased it from KK we would have exchanged it in a flash  for an upgrade. Can't guarantee what my competitor would do.
 
If you use a portable heater that heats the water before the pump you will experience pump damage if temp gets over 160 degress F.
 
Your answer now would be to purchase a portable inline heater.
