I also use both. As a supplier to the industry I continually witness cleaners beating their heads and bodies to extreme by using the only method they believe in. Different strokes for different folks or carpets.

PS for those who care I have used FibrePlus pads on my orbital and they have worked great, but for soil removal, you can't go past the cotton pads, or in particular Gladiator Pads if you want something that will go the distance. With the Cimex, in a commercial situation they might be able to get a fair bit of speed up, but I'd daresay that with Padman's new beast, that crown may be in question and the Cimex has the disadvantage of not being set up to use absorbent pads (at least not to my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong).

Bear in mind about 80% of soil is particulate matter (dust, soil, sand, grit etc) and if we are effectively pre-vacuuming (if you aren't, then shame on you, whatever system you're using!), a lot of that will be taken care of. The remaining visible dirt we see is either water-soluble or an oil-soluble.Water soluble, piece of cake as long as we put down enough product to dissolve it effectively. The remainder we have to deal with is oily soil, which encap products that are properly formulated will take care of quite easily. If relying on straight encapsulation, yes it can work with your fibrous pads, as long as you put enough encap product down to start with, but if you really want to hedge your bets the absorbent pads will absorb the bulk of the oily soils, with only a small percentage then needed  to be taken up by the residual encap product, resulting in a much more efficient clean, and with less product needed than with a fibrous pad for a superior end result.

Pick and choose whichever way you want, just bear in mind there are right and wrong ways to do everything. If it hasn't worked for you then you gotta question why, when for so many others of us it works so well, in my case to the point where I now have some customers that prefer and demand OP to HWE... and on really trashed carpets, HWE followed by an OP... UN-FRIKKIN-BELIEVABLE!!!!

Ken, I have a separate machine set up outside my house in a sheltered alcove, so I can walk down the driveway from my truck, to the machine, dump them in, then unlock my house and enter it.

Given what you are likely to find on carpets, I have no real desire for cross-contamination with what I wear against my own skin!
