Author: LamanatorBob
Subject: 5990
Posted: 30/June/2009 at 1:45pm

If you are getting into the sandless deep cleaning and restoration of laminate, hardwood, cork or bamboo flooring, here is a tip to make certain you bid the job correctly....

Always make sure you ask the custy what they have used in the past on their hard surface flooring to clean it or coat it!!! It will make a huge difference in how much time you spend on that job and how profitable it will be. Be persistant!!

A quick story...had a carpet cleaner who began using the LamanatorPlus Restoration system about two months ago. He went to quote a carpet custy of his to restore her laminate kitchen flooring. It was only about 180 sq. ft. He looked at the floor, thought it appeared pretty clean, and then quoted the custy about .65 cents per sq. ft. to clean and restore it without asking what she had used on the floor in the past.

The next week, he went to the job to begin and when he tried to move the small dinette table, the chairs moved fine, however, the table legs were stuck in the floor(coating)! OUCH...

After Deep Scrubbing this floor for almost 2 hours and getting nowhere, he asked the custy what she had been using on the floor. She gave him the name of an inexpensive coating that you can buy anywhere and proceeded to explain that she had used it several times over the course of a year! OUCH AGAIN....

Long story short, he called me, I recommended finding the bottle she had used, reading the label to see what they use to cut their products, recommended a blend of that and a stronger stripper and he finally was able to finish the job and get out of there. But, by then it was too late because he hadn't bid the job in terms of spending all afternoon removing her layers and layers of cheap coating! An expensive lesson for sure.

So, be sure to quote the job based on all the information you can, and have the proper equipment to do the job!

Hope this helps everyone to not have to learn this on their own the hard way...
