I just got a new puppy that is absolutely adorable, except for when she pees on my carpet! Getting to the bottom of this...

You can use or tell people to use old grandmothers remedies that are hit & miss and make zero money doing it. Try to remember what you are dealing with and I am sure the customer and yourself would like the urine to be completely gone.

The fact that urine gravitates to the backing and pad means that a spritz of even an effective urine eradicator will not work you need to get to the bottom of things.



This is the only extraction tool that will come anywhere close to water, moisture and urine removal from deep-down and within. A standard wand, upholstery or stair tool is NOT THE ANSWER.
 
When you need to use the shotgun approach we suggest cleaning the entire room with KK Enviro Carpet Prespray by both pre-treating followed by steam cleaning (hot water extraction).

Pet Stain removal from carpets.  From a customer perspective, use vinegar.  It has a strong smell but if you cook with vinegar or eat in salads you probably will be able to stand the smell.  It is temporary anyway. 
Want to clean your own pet stains?  Here's how: ????  Pet Urine or Pet Urine odor only. 
 
First, if you carpet is damp with urine, clean up with a slightly moistened cloth with water and damp the spot until as much as you can get up. Don't scrub, damp or blot only.  Using microfiber cloths or towels work the best they are 10 times more absorbent.
 
Next apply 50% vinegar and 50% water to the residue spot.  Let sit for at least a minute.  Important step.  Urine forms a larger circle underneath the padding.  Larger than you can see.  So when applying the solution, make sure you apply at least an inch in diameter around the old spot and saturate to the carpet.  This ensures the spots do not come back.
 
Lastly follow the first step and your pet stain is gone.  Cleaning up after pets can be troublesome but with some good advice you can have your carpets cleaned in no time.  Hope I helped.

This is a great post!  Very useful information especially for those of us who have pets and to pass along to customers who have pets.  You definitely need to use a bacteria/enzyme solution to get rid of the odor and help with getting rid of the stain.  Thanks for the info on the additional steps!
