Bonnet or spin pad cleaning is a low-moisture carpet cleaning method often called "dry cleaning," though it does use some liquid. A cleaning solution is lightly sprayed onto the carpet, then an absorbent pad attached to a floor machine buffs the surface, lifting soil into the pad. I to also offer both cleaning methods. I offer HWE or Bonnet, some of my customer just have to have it one way or the other. The way I look at it is that it's just another tool in the tool belt.  I can make my recommendation on what I think /know will work better but the person who has the money gets to decide what happens.

If I don't ask and talk to the customer enough before I start cleaning and use the wrong method I always fall back on the good old phrase, "ohh that was just the pre-treatment" and then I bring in the other system.

Nothing breeds prejudice like ignorance.  Educate your customer as to WHY your method is the preferred methods.  In carpet cleaning there is no right or wrong way, just my way or your way. 
Bonnet delivers what the customer is really looking for - a clean looking carpet with a minimal drying time. 
What may not be good enough for you is good enough for the buying public.  Remember this is a business, not brain surgery.  The customer who expects you to screw him or her is pleasantly surprised at the results.
Bonnet cleaning does little to reactivate the smell of pet urine.  The nose knows, if it smells clean it must be clean.

Just my opinion.  Freely given and worth every penny of what you paid for it.

Do you guys have any problems with residential customers when you clean their homes using an OP or Bonnet method? Are they skeptical when you bring an OP machine in their home and see that you're just spinning a pad on their carpet as opposed to using a truck mount?

I'm not saying one method works better than the other, I don't know. I'm just concerned that the customers might be quick to judge when using that method.

Atlantis,

I hear you, but try O.P. (Oscillating Power) with a pure COTTON pad. There is an exceptional difference. Synthetic bonnets are out if you want it clean.
 
P.S.
Can you imagine wearing other than cotton underwear? Try wearing a pair of synthetic underwear and you'll have your answer. I am not knocking H.W.E. methods but O.P. and Cotton sure opened my eyes.

I did bonnet cleaning for quite sometime. I use to choke when I'd have to tell a customer how much better it was than steam cleaning. Still sold the method, still did a great job with it but bojedi is right.. it's "pretend" carpet cleaning (my exact words).
