I worked for an employer, he supplied the van, the equipment and the chemicals. I did the work for $150 to $200AU per day (based on number of jobs per day 5 being minimum). Any extra jobs/work I brought in my self commercial or residential, I got 50% and the employer got the other 50%. ie $100 job we split it. 

As a sub contractor, I then had to have my own insurance, as part of the contract. So any damage to the equipment, van or customers carpets I had to pay for.

So for example an average day 5 jobs for the day. Each at $100AU.

5 x $100 = $500 - $150 Contractor = $350 - $100 expenses (approx) Fuel chemicals etc. = $250 in you pocket.  Which you would then have to pay your tax from etc.

So $250 a day for 6 days = $1500 per week $6000 per month.

Now these are Australian figures, I'm not sure what you would charge for 3 rooms and your expenses can differ these are just approximations. 

Also with contractors working for you you can free up time to spend a day on the road with them and see how they talk to your customers. See the quality of there work etc. That's hard to do if your working as well on jobs.

Also any commission's, percentages terms or conditions you need to make sure they are in the contract before they start.

I think you should grow the more you grow the less physical work you need to do and the more you can work on your business not in it. Hope this helps a bit.
