I tried 3 passes of hot water extraction and then I tried Prochem All Fiber Rinse. Then I rinsed several more times. Nothing worked at all. Probably a lost cause, but I figured I would ask if anyone has any other ideas on how remove residue from the carpet? Your help is much appreciated!

I’ve found once you’re in that 200–230°F range at the source, you’re already in a very effective zone.

Past that, you're not gaining much in cleaning performance, but you are putting more stress on hoses, seals, and internal components. Not to mention certain carpets don’t appreciate excessive heat.

At the end of the day, heat helps, especially on grease and heavy soil, but it’s still just one part of the equation. Good chemistry, proper agitation, and technique will outperform raw heat every time.

Best Regards,

KingCarpetClean

Author: 180elitecleaning
Subject: HEAT - How much is too much?
Posted: 13/April/2026 at 7:49am

<p -start="631" -end="831">Good question. I think one thing that often gets missed is that “too much heat” is not just about the temperature itself. It is really about <strong -start="772" -end="828">heat + fiber type + backing + chemistry + dwell time.
<p -start="839" -end="1091">A synthetic commercial carpet may tolerate a lot more than a wool carpet or a stain-resistant residential carpet. And sometimes the real problem is not the heat alone, but what it does when combined with strong chemistry, overwetting, or slow drying.
<p -start="1099" -end="1151">In my opinion, the safer way to think about it is:
<ul -start="1154" -end="1412"><li -section-id="tmn87p" -start="1154" -end="1182">Identify the fiber first
<li -section-id="1ba45yz" -start="1185" -end="1240">Use only as much heat as needed to improve cleaning
<li -section-id="1csu3ia" -start="1243" -end="1267">Keep the wand moving
<li -section-id="1tuyrhj" -start="1270" -end="1326">Avoid over-application and long dwell with high heat
<li -section-id="wy63ni" -start="1329" -end="1349">Dry aggressively
<li -section-id="1j3b1ck" -start="1352" -end="1407">Test in an inconspicuous area if there is any doubt

<p -start="1415" -end="1667">I have seen more issues from the <strong -start="1448" -end="1463">combination of heat, moisture, and chemistry than from heat by itself. So for me the question is less “What number is too much?” and more “What am I cleaning, and how much total abuse can this carpet system handle?”

Real partnerships are built on trust, support, and some level of reciprocation over time.
<p ="isedEnd">That said, I also think it is worth having an honest conversation before cutting ties. Sometimes people may value your work, speak highly of you, and still not have had the right opportunity to refer you yet. Not every good business relationship shows up in the same way.
<p ="isedEnd">For me, the bigger question is whether the relationship feels genuine. Are they supportive? Do they look for ways to help? Do they respect your business and the value you bring? If the answer is consistently no, then it may be time to reevaluate who you do business with.

Reciprocation matters, but so does communication.
