Depends on the soil level and if there is floor finish or sealer on it

Anyone ever come across sealed grout in restrooms that has turned black? I've got 40,000 sq ft of it, and 1,800 psi won't clean it.

Ken Harris Nov 08:

"This will cause oil to rise to near $100 by the end of November. It stays up there to about the end of February. Better save this so you know who told it to you first."

If it has an acrylic sealer/finish on it, you want to strip it first using a stripping brush and a 175 rpm floor machine. You can etch it after you remove the finish

Using an OP machine on the tile and grout first makes the grout part much easier.

I've never tried that, but it seems logical

It makes it a breeze. Especially the etched tile you see in restaurants. The client sees the difference in the tile so much they aren't as picky about the grout.

Yeah, acid is great. But the problem is that it's resistant to all types of acid. I'll have they guys try to strip it first.

We did the washrooms in a clubhouse at a golf course a few years back. They wanted to replace the floor it looked so bad. Stripped all the finish off first, then etched it. The facility manager was thrilled. The tile is still there

Cool. I'll be a hero if I can pull this off.  At least there's hope.
