Any advice on cleaning a off white wool area rug that has been prone to browning in the past by other cleaners?

Clean with a rinse agent. Use minimum water and speed dry.

Often the browning that reoccurs can come from an alkaline residue not just cellulostic browning.

Use a neutral ph prespray.

Rule of thumb on wool, use twice the prespray as on nylons.

When browning happens to me, I just tell my customer to watch her cat or dog from dragging their ass all over the carpet
