They have been doing a lot of lobbying on the positive effects of carpets on the indoor air environment.
They have two new flyers available called
1) Cleaner Air May Be Right Under Your Feet
2) Often-Held Myths Surrounding Carpet Are Dispelled
They are available free of charge.
Just email at info@canadiancarpet.org

They look great, received a sample in the mail yesterday. The first twenty are free don't know the cost if you want more. We as carpet care experts should have these brochures available and hand out to as many people as possible. Carpet is still the best floor covering, environmentally friendly, safest, great looking, warmest, etc. etc.

Most independent carpet cleaners have shunned and had no use for belonging to cleaning organizations such as IICRC, CRI, FIO etc,.
Maybe with the Chem-Dry - Home Depot purchase its time to belong and take another look. You just may need to belong to a greater power who have the resources to get info and literature into your hands and minds to help you as an independent business man.

I find it amazing how an industry like carpeting, tobacco, alchol, drug companies, coffee industry, chemical companies etc etc etc including all governments of the world.........just have to come up with dumb statements like 20,000 people surveyed since 2002 or whatever NON SCIENTIFIC single controlled data & they strir up their claims to be truth.
Their claims are nothing more than stupity for the insane people that believe them.
This is surely directed for the uneducated and the desperate attitude of an industry that was slowly dying a loss of market share to alternate flooring types.

Oh brother.
Its all about a thing called "breathing space"
Carpet does trap allergens and holds them out of your breathing space.
Hard floors do not.

How many of you out there want allergens trapped in your carpet or anywhere for that fact. Your kids play on the carpet and you walk on the carpet bare feet. A carpet contains and collect allergens, carpet beetles & their larvae, dust mites and their fecal material, dead skin cells ( Dander ) and whatever else you can think of.
Maybe your the type of guy Lee that lets your kids play with dead chicken heads too, I don't know.........but hearing this stupity from a guy that supposed to have such a profound reaction from chemicals causing constant nasel drip.............perhaps you should take a closer look at your allergen catching carpeting in your house.

Boy oh boy you aren't thinking man.
You are supposed to vacuum your carpet will a true HEPA filter vacuum.

Alright.................sooooooooooo........Is that supposed to make you breath easier.
Have you ever seen any data on your "True Hepa Filter System ".
Did you know that if your filter system is not cleaned after each or at least every 2nd vacuuming, the 99.9% drops to less than 60% effective. On the 3rd vacuuming it drops to under 40% which is about equal to an ordinary vacuum cleaner after the 4th vacuuming it starts to emit allergens & bacteria throughout the household for everyone to breath.
Lucky you have a carpet that traps all bacterial allergens............what would you do without it
AND THE BEAT GOES ON.........Carpet keeps trapping allergen from the air.......la di la di di........la di da di da

Question:
Is carpet better than hard-surface?
Answer:
These days it depends on what the sales man is pitching that day and how many perks or free vacations he is working towards. This is wrong but it is true.
The modern salesman who is selling floors today is selling cars tomorrow. I like to think I personally have built my business by honesty giving the customer what he/she needs. But I sometimes envy my competitors who sell the customer what he thinks he wants. $$$$$

I love carpeting, I like the look, the feel.......it's warm and also inviting when you enter a home.........the problem is upkeep.
I have all marble, slate, and granite floors in my home, my basement is wall to wall carpeting and that's my favorite part of the house.........but I would never recommend or sell carpeting.
Commercial is different, especially for restaurants......carpeting completes the decor.

They say your house refelts the your personality. You have marble and slate cold as a bankers heart Where as if you are living with warm fuzzy carpeting, well you get it.

That's true Rob, many people say I'm cold and calculating............but I did mention I love to spend my time in the carpeted basement right in front of my fireplace.......so that makes me all fuzzy & hot.

I'll sell the house before the floor gets that bad
Today it's Spaghetti/home made sauce with a touch of cinnamon in it for flavour, Butterfly pork chops marinaded in a vintage wine for 24 hours, side dish of a little serving of a cheese raclette fondu assorted vegitables ( Broccoli, cherry tomatoes, gurkin pickels, coliflower, sweet & sour oninons )
A select bottle of wine from my collection, & a hot bagette of bread.
