Can anyone let me know what would cause this? Recieved my first call back today. Lady says that the carpet is hard "in a couple places", but its soft in the bedroom, and where the sofas were. She did have a big area rug in the center of the living room. I used pre-kleen as a prespray, followed by an acid rinse. The rinse is supposed to give the carpet a softer hand. Ideas/knowledge appreciated. Scheduled to return to re-rinse the place tomorrow.

Suprised by this....1st callback in over 200 jobs. Same process used on all residential work completed. Averaging 2 hours dry times, and rake all upon completing

Thanx

I would bet its a pre existing condition.

Sugar based stain?

Powdered deodorizer?

Could be a number of things.

Sure feel like I rinsed well enough...Have used the exact same method on my home and other places without any problem. I just dont understand the "only in a few spots" part. I take my time, and have huge pride in my work. Oh well, we'll see tomorrow at noon I guess. Gonna re-rinse and see what happens

Maybe she just wants to see you again and see how hard you get

Maybe you should rethink your post above regarding you thinking that you rinced the carpet well enough..........all those pics of bathing suit poses could alter your perception of a good job

Go there and tell her you have to spray a chemical and wait at least 40 minutes to see any possible reaction, then politely ask her for a coffee while you wait...........then ask her to model those bathing suits of hers

Pre existing condition 9 times out of 10, however, since you have cleaned the carpet it now becomes your problem.  All pre-existing conditions belong to the customer, however, once we touch them it now is a problem that we need to deal with, unless we prequalify and have the customer sign off, during our inspection.

Appreciate the help gents.

Nightrider, you're always quick on your feet, I like that. As far as the coffee, hmm, its hot here in Texas...I think a few shots would be in order instead!

Update: I went to the house only to be greeting by this cute girl wearing a half shirt and short shorts. Belly ring was shining the whole time. Turns out, she didnt like the way THE TRAFFIC AREAS WERE'NT AS SOFT as the non-traffic areas. I re-rinsed, explained to her that this was due to wear, handed her my card with a 10% discount for the next cleaning, smiled and walked out.

I am applying that discount to all new customers. Figure that way they won't just trash the card and know who to call next time. I have a company seal that i stamp the card with and inform them that the card must be presented to recieve the discount!

I remember running into this scenario many many years ago.

Now that u mention it was the T-area's. You need a top quality pre-spray and aggitation to get that hardened (soil damaged) t-area softer... It can be done. crank up the heat too.

Use chemspec pre-kleen, a 300 rpm rotary, and have 200-220 ATM with my Butler...she was cool and i'm sure i'll see her again.

As far as the area, it was right in front of the sofa. Not real dirty, just worn down pretty good
