I visited a JON-DON store in Roselle ILLINOIS the other day and I didn't buy much. I was just wondering if anyone buys anything from them? They seem a little expensive. I went there only for a quick connect. They seem to carry everything you need but I just feel I got hosed on a couple chems.

I would say alot of people buy from them if they are the biggest supplier in our industry as is still claimed.

I have bought from them they do have a great selection when they have the item in.....prices are pretty fair I thought just like anywhere you go you have to compare prices... They sure are cheaper then the few local Janitorial Supply Stores in my town. They do compare prices so if you see a price cheaper on a website print page and bring it in or if calling order in for shipping tell them, they look it up and tell you if they can. Sometimes cheaper to order by mail if it's a few items, beats the traffic and save gas.Shipping prices not that bad.

I usually go to a store that part of the Interlink Supply Chain, but I have no idea how it's regarded in the industry. I just have two local carpet cleaning suppliers, and I use both of them.

Is there a message here for all of us?

How did Jon-Don become the largest specialty supplier by selling their wares a little more expensive as you have quoted. I have found down through the years that everytime I lowered my pricing as a marketing ploy it always came back to haunt my business. Generally selling a quality part is a WIN WIN situation.

The guy who is looking for the lowest price will lalways be looking for lower, lower, lower. There will never be loyalty with this guy. You are truly better off without this type of customer.

Just look at your own business. The low guys have more issues and always have the dirtiest carpets and are never satisfied.

preach it brother....we fall into a trap...we undercut prices just to get the jobs...someone undercuts us...someone undercuts them...

It gets to the point where no one is making money....

Yup.....I struggle to make business.....because of Canadian Steam...with their living room/dining room and hall for 39.95

I won't undercut...so I have to take less business.....

right now I do 2 rooms for $60.... sears does 2 rooms for $69... the bay does to rooms for $59...

I'm sure we are all broke

well not broke...but could be doing more...

I operate through direct mail.... so you get the coupon clipper customer....
at first they are looking to save save save... sometimes they request a price match... or they ask why are you soooo much more..

direct mail customers are great...but the first time you clean them it's all about the cost...on the second and third calls you can get good money out of them once you've proven yourself
