Ok, I use a two inch  vac hose to increase the potential CFM on my portable.  I'm sure it helps, but the problem is that there's a bottleneck at each end of the system. My wand pipe is standard size, so the air is automatically restricted, since the diameter of the pipe is so small (1 1/2 inches?).  Also, the two vac motors inside the machine are in parallel, but are hooked up to a pipe inside the tank that has the same diameter as my wand pipe.  So at both ends of the system, I have restricted airflow.

My recommendation to manufacturers out there is to make a wand with a two-inch pipe.  Sure, it would probably be about 30% heavier than a standard pipe, but with gliders on the wand head, who cares so much about the added weight if you're not forced to lift the wand off the ground? I think there would be a market for these wands.  The minor inconvenience of the added weight won't matter to someone who wants to do a better job.  After all, isn't that why there is a market for rotary machines?

What do you think?

There are several manufacturers of 2" wands, some already glided.
