hello, my name is jay im from texas, ive done a little carpet cleaning in the past, and since my recent felony conviction, decided the only way i can make any real money in the sh*t town i live in is to start a carpet cleaning business, i have roughly 10,000$ to invest, and my credit score is at a 580,so im in need of advise for a semi beginner, ive allready set up a tax id # and named my business ''STEAM PRO""I PLAN ON BUYING  brand new equipement ( truck mount ),i want a newer model chevrolet express van maybe a 2000+,ive found a truck mount with 100 ft hose, and a chemical package, from ''chem tex'' here in texas houston for 5,999$, i think thats my best bet, its a 15hp i think, any advise would be very appreciated! thanks !!!Tongue

Hey man, just getting into the business myself, I have done alot of research too. I don't think you will find a truckmount, chemicals, hoses and a van for less than $10k. If anyone has one out there has a system like this, please let me know....Im looking too. Also, do you think you will have any problems with getting bonded?

Welcome guys.. I helped a friend of mine get a spitfire 3.2 with 55hrs (like new) and a 2000 econoline all for $9200 that included tax.. Nice little entry TM..

You have to look around until you find the right deal..

If your in it for the long haul get a TM.. More prestige.. More confidence.. More professional Image.. More Power..

Looks like I am going to buy the same thing....I was looking at the spitfire, but someone told me that it only gives about 400 continuous psi.    I want to do tile too and I think the Scout would let me do that. Anyone have any comments about the Scout on tile???

Stay in touch and we will work out our Scout problems together. I will probably buy mine in about 6 weeks.

What size fresh water tank are you buying?

Good.. Do yourself a favor.. Run the unit for awhile.. Do some cleaning with it to see if you like it.. I'm sure you will.. That's the mistake i made when buying the different portables.. I didn't test run them.. So was somewhat disappointed from the advertised  hype..

300ft.. Well that might be true on CGD.. But not good dry times on residential carpets like nylon cut or loop.. nylon frieze.. it would be soak and wet.. Unless you run 100psi's..Geek

Skip the van, buy a trailer and put an inexpensive truck mount in it.  YOu can get the whole setup from Chemtex in Houston for about $13K with 200 feet of hose, chemicals, trailer, wand, stainless fresh and dirty water tank, hydraforce,  tile cleaner, Tongueetc.....

If you are in Texas you probably own a pickup.  Pull the trailer with you pickup and if the carpet business doesnt work out in a few months, then sell the trailer setup and move on.

I can remove more spots than you can.

Chem-Tex makes an intermediate truck mount for about 7k brand new, including reels, hoses and waist tank. I think its the green one called the panther.  I have not heard much about them, but if you call them they seem to like to wheel and deal.  I almost bought one, but went another direction.  If your just staring up, portables or a used piece of equipment (depending on how handy you are) are not a bad idea, just to get you started and get some money coming in.  Plus if you can keep your business running for about a year, it will develop credit and then you can lease a new one and sell off your used stuff.  Good luck on you carpet cleaning adventure.
