Hi all, I have a chemspec one clean and the diverter valve will not come on automatically so I have to push the diverter manually for it to heat the water but it shuts off when it reaches temperature?? any ideas? and lately when you push the diverter on rusty water comes out of the blower exhaust? do you think the exchangers have bust?
          thanks

The diverter doesn't have anything to do with the operation of the heat exchangers at least not directly...

it sounds like you have moisture build up causing the valve to rust...

do it work after you close it manually??? I mean does it operate automatically??

hi there,
no it doesn't operate on its own you have to push the diverter with a wrench so it will close and heat up. but when the temperature is reached it will open the diverter up so as to not heat the water. I think the rusty water has stopped now after a good flushing out,so it must have moisture like you said, but the diverter still not working automatically??and will only heat the water if I hold it with a wrench, and will not heat the water unless I keep holding it manually, and the temperature guage only works when there is a flow of water coming out of the machine?? any ideas?

Do you let the unit get to proper operating temperature before you try and use the diverter?

If you don't let the machine warm up enough moisture comes out of the exhaust. The unit should be at optimal operating temp before activating the diverter...

but once it warms up there shouldn't be a problem..

Have you checked your wiring to the diverter??? I don't know how old your unit is but the wires might have gone bad. make sure you have power...and that your unit is properly grounded.

as for your temperature readings .. you won't get any until the water hits the sensor.

how many jobs do you do per day or week???

Hi Mr Steamer
yes it gets to the operating temperature but the water is only slightly warm, not sure what to check with the wiring though?? there is a relay,a switch that operates the air tubes that go to diverter, and then the solonoid? the unit is about 3 years old now and its done about 1500 hours, if I push the diverter manually it will heat the water ok but once it reaches whatever temperature I set it will open the diverter and not heat the water again unless I walk back to the unit and push the diverter manually, the only other way I can stop the heat switching off is to open a valve slightly that I have on the solution hose fitting that I use to get hot water from to fill spotters, but my water tank doesnt last long before it empties if I keep doing that.
        Many thanks
                    John

check your theromostat on the unit where you set your tempt it may be f**ked. if the points are sticking it will by pass water and not heat up. You should have a bypass hose going to your waste tank take it off and check to see if it is bypassing continually.

1500 hours thats new...

There are a few things you can do as a quick fix.

Take off the bypass hose that goes into the waste water tank and run it back to your fresh water tank. That is a stupid thing prochem does. This will save you water on jobs.

Disconnect the temp shut off.... I know I know sounds crazy right. trust me it's going to save you time, you don't need it anyways.

but thats what I would do, sometimes the stupid bells and whistles the put on drive you crazy

I call it an improvement.. why waste heated clean water??? I guess if you don't know what your doing it might cause a bit of trouble.

But it is a good modification. one job and your waste water tank can get full from the bypass.

I'm sorry I'm not to the book like you

405 is a better built machine. I honestly will say anything under the 405 for prochem is garbage.

go big or go home.
