Hey everyone, I'm new here. Name is Ben Surdi and I wanted to get some input from everyone on what is being realistically charged on a square foot basis. When you go to do a bid and there is a 3,200 square foot house that is pretty  much all carpet... how much do you charge?

Ben

Hi Ben,
I'm in North California, I'm chargeing around  .29 cents a sq. ft.
if i had a home that big, i would drop down to about .25 cents a sq. ft.
A home that size has about 2000 sq. ft. of carpet?
that would make you about $500.00 for about 4 hours of work!Big%20smile

might even go a little lower if i wanted to make sure I get the job,
i guess it depends on how hungry you are!

Hope this helps,  Cheers,  AL

THanks Mr. Slide. That's about what I charge. I was trying to move up to .50 per sq. ft. but it just seemed to high...

In Toronto that would be done for $149.99 with a 100 psi Ninja using Zep Purple Degreaser in the tank  and no pre-spray and NO pre vacuum.

Does that purple stuff work really well for cleaning carpets? Where can you get it?

I think you should stick to chemicals that are made for carpet cleaning. Have you taken any training courses??? Contact your local reputable cleaning supplier and ask about trainingBig%20smile

One floor = .41 sqft
Two floor = .48 sqft
Minimum =  $69.00

On the average, that is mine.  I add $75 to the total job if I need to move furniture and then I do not include heavy, fragile, antique furniture, any furniture which has anything on it or electronics.  I keep all the furniture in the room it was in originally, never taking anything through the doorway.

That's mine FWIW

Are you in a high paying business or are you just a self employed low paid grunt who thinks this business provides dignity?

I worked for servicemaster awhile back and they were using purple stuff on carpets daily. I thought they were crazy at first but turns out the stuff really really works!!  Purple power sucks. You should use "Right Stuff" or "Purple Cleaner" Incredible to use in restaurants and very cheap!        American%20Flag

Commercial
.38 for under 2000 sq ft
.35 for over 2000 sq ft
.30 for quaterly work over 2000 sq ft.

Residential
.38 for under 2000 sq ft (.42 if I can)
.35 for over 2000 sq ft

Have been up to .42 per sq ft. But with economy being flat i went down a bit. Im still adjusting when I can though. It aslo depends on the state. I cover 3. NH, VT, MA.

thanks for the reply. the unit i am looking at is not  a truck mount. but from the reviews it works as well as one. it comes with 100' hose, blah blah blah. i have to say that i am suprise on that it is that high. When we do side walks and such, it can get as low as 5 cent per foot. but normal charge is 20 cents a foot.
