Distilled water, which works very well for us. We started using it on silk rugs fabrics and some other fabrics and more recently on leather and now on most jobs we do.

I wonder if I need Safety data sheets.

Actually Harry some water SHOULD have msds sheets, to clean a carpet with tap water could be a residue problem in some areas.

Laugh if you like, but some water is so full of minerals that it should be regulated..LOL

Doug - Interesting Answer. Of course everyone will have their own opinion, however, if you have not heard, the CRI has asked all companies to submit products for testing. ECOgent is the first carpet prespray to pass their tests. Here is a link.

So far we have not found anything in Abstraction that falls under the WHMIS hazard list of chems, but will complete the research soon.

Jim Darling,

Congratulations on having C.R.I. (Carpet & Rug Institute) certifying and giving ECOgent their seal of approval. I know that many big name manufacturers have applied with their pre-sprays and failed.

The more we sell and promote Enviro products the more I am ashamed of what I sold in the past.

It's a slow road but we are winning. And the users and consumers are the real big time winners.

Ted

I just heard this morning that for a City of Toronto carpet cleaning tender for a specific building, any cleaning chemical that is to be used must meet Environmental Choice Standard PRC-097 - Cleaning products with Low Potential for Environmental Illness and Endocrin Dispruption.

As you say, the road is slow but what more and more people are realizing is that the material we have all been exposed to is not good for either our long term health or the health of the people in the buildings
