insulation should keep you good well down into -15...

even on the coldest day I have the window cracked because it's too hot in the van

steamer your using a TM. i'm not. the day my pump froze i put my ninja in the van in the morning. i thought i was going to need it for one of my jobs but i didn't. when i got back home and took it in for the night i thought i better check it, and it was toast.  live and learn. a 500 dollar mistake. never aging.

Now we get to the truth Greg...............it wasn't going job to job that froze your pump...........it was from leaving it in your truck from the morning until you got back at night that froze your pump.........big difference and makes sense now.

adwa that was my hole point. steamer said he leaves his outside all night because it's insulated. my point was my pump froze during the day going job to job. my van had time to heat up a bit from job to job too and it still froze. toronto's winters are alot colder than halifax's. i would think that over night, insulated or not, things would still freeze.

Anywhere that the temp is below -5C overnight, I would suggest a heated garage. Much simpler than worrying about whether your gonna freeze
