Just starting a carpet cleaning business. I have been doing vinyl flooring for Apts for 16 years. I have a choice between right now of buying a Prochem Peak or a Boxxer 427. The Peak is $1462.00 less.
I will be doing lots of apartment work first since I have a foot in the door. I would like to expand to some commercial and residental. What do you feel considering the money and what I want to do to be the better investment. Also as far as recovery tanks go how big do you really need. We had asked for the upgrade recovery tank for the Boxxer which makes it a 100 gallon. Not sure how important that is. Any ideas would be great. |

Both are similar machines. If it was me I would check out your local dealers and see what kind of reputations they have for after service. Talk to some of the cleaners who have bought from each and get their feedback! Maybe try and see if you could get a ride along with them?
As for the recovery tank larger is better! less down time. ![]() |

Cant say I have any experience with both of those machines.BUt!! I would definately get the waste tank (recovery tank) option. Because dumping waste water wouldnt be a good idea for most neighborhoods (unless you live in Kentucky).

it doesn't matter what you get....the key word is CARE...
care your equipment and it will last.... to solve you waste tank size problem...just get it with pump out installed |

I have a Peak now thats 6 months Old and it is coming up tp 500 hrs now. I looked at the Boxxer 427 but I went with the Prochem for the fact that the new prochems have been trimmed to the bare min. and when it comes to truckmounts simplier is ALWAYS better. The more sh*t on the machine that you dont need more to break down. I paid the extra to upgrade the waste tank to the 100 gallon and its a must as far as I am concerned.

Knowing your machine helps too...when I got my prochem...I slept with the manual days before it got put into my truck....do you know what 500 hours means...5 oil changes at least.... 2 air filter changes...a fuel filter change...pump and blower oil changes...and full nipple lube...
most of us abuse the crap out of these units and then expect them to work |

Steamer I don't know of too many people that change their pump and blower oil every 5 hundred hours? Is the air that bad in the GTA 2 air filter changes in 500 hours?I guess it must be because the unit is air cooled?

Get a big recovery tank because most of these truck mount systems overflow fresh water that is to hot into the recovery tank. It uses a lot of fresh water and fills up the recovery tank fast when you are not carpet cleaning for a minute or two while say moving furniture. The sytem uses cool fresh water to control the water temperature of the truckmount by overflowing pistol hot water into the dirty tank and adding cool water to the mini stir tank. Other than that they do run the overheated water back into the freshwater tank sometimes, but that usually results in an overheating problem with the water pump which cant handle super hot water say over 160 degrees going into the pump without an automatic shutdown sensor doing its job.

I can remove more spots than you can.
