If they're willing to pay, doug's solution works mighty nicely.

I have some of Bridgepoint's filtration remover, and I haven't had good results with it either. When I was with Chem-Dry, they had a filtration remover that worked amazingly well--the owner had one unit, which tells me he had to buy it because of one of HR's rules, because he never would have bought anything extra unless they were twisting his arm--but it cost him about 40.00 for a quart (one A-bottle, one ...

I guess so. I really don't know how many Chem-Dry franchises in San Diego have opened and then folded. I don't know what reasons the failed Chem-Dry owners would claim made them close up. I just know that from my own experience as an employee for a franchise that the pricing of other Chem-Dry businesses was definitely an issue, and it remained an issue for me when I was deciding whether or not to open a Chem-Dry myself. Aside from the start-up costs, the main reason I was turned off, though, ...

Those were all major factors in my decision to not buy into the Chem-Dry franchise, which was my original plan. Also, when you have a bunch of Chem-Dry franchises in one area, they're pretty much forced to keep their prices right around the other ones. Who wants to use the most expensive Chem-Dry? Customers will just think all Chem-Dry services are the same and then choose the cheapest one.

But who cares when you can have 10 chem dry's working in the very same area... there are no area ...

Here is San Diego, Stanely Steemer is synonymous with "carpet cleaning." Chem-Dry is synonymous here with "dry carpet cleaning" or "bonnet cleaning." That's a real feat, making your brand the preferred shorthand for a given product/service type.

It's difficult to answer without a clear idea of your budget.

Although most of us would consider a pickup out of the question, I've seen people do it. I sold my pickup in order to buy a van so I could start out on the right foot. Nevermind the impression you make pulling up to appointment in a pickup truck, think about the security issue. If you have a shell, then security is more or less take care of, but then you have to deal with the rapid wear and tear of the shell. I first started ...

I dunno. Chem-Dry built its extraction method on RX-20's and portables, although they use truckmounts now (some do anyway). I use my RX-20 with a portable, and I get great results. No complaints. What difficulties have you had using an RX-20 with a portable?

For prevac, most of us just use a regular vacuum cleaner. I personally use a Royal. All metal construction and very simple to break down. When I was with Chem-Dry, I used a Hoover Conquest--more expensive but not as good, in my opinion. The RX-20 offers plenty of agitation, and I'd guess the 360 does as well, but maybe some of the guys here experienced with the unit can speak to that.
