Don't worry...I plan to stay in Calgary...it's the only place people pay you what you're worth...with a smile on their face.
By the way...I don't try to take business away from anyone...I get the referals, do a presentation and leave it up to the customer...they make the decision. I'm glad you like your cimex...but I have to say that it's not hard for me to convince my customers that my process is superior.

It's interesting that when you post a question on the portable board the TM boys have absolutely nothing constructive to add...except "get a TM". These are the same guys who get IICRC certified, however fail to recognize that there are 5 approved IICRC carpet cleaning methods...most of them don't even follow the most important step in carpet cleaning which is PRE-VACUUM.
The reason I follow a 5 step procedure is that it works. Since I started my current commercial floor maintenace business I consistently take business away from the cleaners who use 1 or 2 steps in the cleaning process...and yes, even the encap cleaners...WHY??...because I outperform them (with my 150psi Ninja and a floor buffer). I have found a formula that works well for me...I have never made better money...and I charge more than most of my competition...but then...I'm a really good salesman! People love a 5 step process!

I use very little water...pre-vac, pre-spray, agitate with the buffer, light rinse & extract, bonnet dry...don't have to dump much at all. As far as the ease of a truck mount, that's fine if you're doing 3-4 residential jobs a day, however I prefer the portable for multi floor commercial...I do very little residential...only referals.

Looks like you needed to do better work, would avoid those call backs. Bet you miss the ease of a TM, no buckets of dirty water and filling up. Nice to goto a job and run two lines and go for hours. I for sure don't miss the portable days. As far as gas a good TM theses days use very little gas, and with the heat and power of a truck mount you need a lot less chemical which cost way more. So as far as saving money think you are spending more. Would also hate doing a flood with a portable. Just my opinion.

Thanks Carpetoligist...I'll give you a call.
Interesting to hear from the TM boys. I cleaned carpets for 15 years with a TM. A truck mount and van won't do me much good 28 floors up in a Calgary tower. It's funny, when I ran a truck mount I was happy when I made a $100 an hour on occasion doing residential jobs...now I average $100 an hour doing commercial and no call backs and no "Mrs. Jones" scrutinizing my work...and no truck mount...best of all...no gas. Wait till gas is $1.50 to $2.00 a litre...better sell your truck mounts now while you still can. "Mrs. Jones" certainly isn't going to pay for your gas.
