I use my Rotovac 70% of the time when I do residential carpets. When you caome across really dirty carpets how do you manages with just a wand? I think its impossible. Thats why I just bust out my rotovac on every job.

Thanks

John

Not impossible. The wand should be for rinsing, not cleaning. Agitation should be supplied to pre-conditioner by either bonnet machine or grandi grommer. Leave 15 minutes to dwell. If you did a good prevac before pre-conditioner was applied, this works well. Been doing it that way for over 28 years now.

They are called scrub wands for a reason you scrub and rinse with it.

Some dumb carpet cleaner called them Scrub Wands back in the day when the cleaning water and the rinse water was one and the same Don.Since they were too lazy to use preconditioner back then, they needed to use the wand as a scrubbing tool as there was NO dwell time.

Today things have changed. I remember back in 1978, when some cleaners were starting to apply pre-conditioners to carpet, and use clear rinse water to extract the soil in the carpet. Ted introduced me to a company called "Carpet Magicians". I went and helped them on a job and learned how to do the same. Now a days there is no need to use your wand as a scrub tool. The chemical pre-conditioner and prevac should do all the agitation you need.

Pretty much. And there are many thousands of cleaners across the USA and around the world that will tell you the same thing. The glides never started the trend to the wand only being used as a rinsing tool; pre-conditioning and dwell time did that. But the glide means that the case for using it as an agitation tool is just about closed.
