I'm looking hard at other things......I say I have around 2 years left in this business. In my area there aren't many fly buy nights...most of them refuse to pay for advertising...You see some that put word ads in the classifieds...the phone has been ringing for me, but I have more than paid my dues in advertising Mr. Steamer. I can tell by the amount of repeat business we have done since the start of this year and the call average has gone way up.
I send something out each and every month starting now...at least 150K pieces.
The porty party is no where to be seen...signs on lamp post get cut down around here and the posters fined... there is no good way to get the word out and most give up.
I can say positively I have pushed sears out of my area.....their prices are higher and they can not offer the service I offer. If I could clone myself 2 or 3 more times I would be very wealth.

Carpet is still being made at record rates, and yes it is the best floor covering for several reasons. There may not be as much carpet in to day's homes but they do have carpet and it needs to be cleaned and Steamer who said the fly by night carpet cleaner will buy a portable, he books a bunch of work rents a rug doctor and away he goes |

Maybe people are buying less carpet, and going for marble, granit & wood . I think carpet is a poor investment

I think just the opposite.... Gas is way toooooo high... even soap and chemical cost have gone way up... There is no one looking to get in...only those looking to get out!
Most people turn into handymen...s omething that doesn't cost very much to start up...handmen...maid service...lawn cutters.
a portable goes for a pretty good buck...you could buy 3 or 4 lawncutters for that...LOL and windex is still pretty evenly priced.
there are certain areas in the GTA where they can't find a carpet cleaner...ie Orangeville/Grandvalley/Dundalk/
