the relief valve is that thing your turning in an attempt to increase your pressure. It allows a certain amount of water pressure past based on how tight the spring is. It will usually have a little metal bit that the water flows past. That can get pretty dirty on an old machine. Dissemble and clean based on the manufactures recommendations. Hydramaster is usually very helpful on the phone.
To descale a unit you can buy a the descaler from a suppler. I know interlink carries it. Or you can take a gallon of white vinager and dump that in your emptied chemical mix tank and let it run for a few minutes while bleeding some water out of your wand to make sure it goes all through the unit. Then turn the unit off and let it sit for a few hours. Then turn it back on and clean your garage floor untill it does not smell like vinagar anymore. Have fun Fuzz |

I have to agree that the Cds is not known for its high pressure. The engine speed is to slow to get a high pressure pump running at full pressure. But you may be able to get a little more pressure by cleaning out the relief valve and re greasing it. Also if you descale the unit you may get a bit more pressure.

I don't know what year your 4.2 is, but I've got an older Hydramaster CDS that won't go above 600 psi on a good day. It's not a problem for me because I normally use it between 300-400 psi. If your looking to use it for Tile and grout, you probably need to get a water otter, shockwave, or something similar. KleenKuip probably has one; if not, try http://www.cross-american.com/ or Interlink Supply.
Good Luck

Hello, newbie here, I have a hydramaster 4.2 cds. The most pressure I can get is 600 psi. or at least that is what the gauge is showing. What can I do to trouble shoot this? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
