I use local college girls for part time helpers. I rake in the prespray and work on stubborn spots while they use the wand. Since I've been doing this, my business skyrockets in the summertime when they wear shorts and t-shirts. It's usually the guy who meets me at the door and I never get complaints.
I have a special short-handled rake that I like to call my "stainguard rake". I spray, they rake. It's really amazing how much some customers are willing to pay for stainguard. By the way, I love my job.
|

I had a customer tell me yesterday that she used a Dyson before I arrived. Rather than using it as an excuse to not vacuum I applied my Hoover bagless and went from empty to 3/4 full when done.
My guess is she had the vacuum on BLOW rather than SUCK or that she simply forgot to plug it in and thought it was the quietest vacuum she ever used. Her husband pulled a Eureka out of the closet as they were leaving. Looked like it had never been used. And of course I kept mistaking the carpet for a cave floor. You might be a pimp of a different make and model, but you understand how to put SEX into carpet cleaning. I just take off my shirt and watch all the ladies come out of hiding to take their pictures of the beached albino whale. I make good money at $5 per pose. I know of very few "big-name" cleaners that vacuum. Mostly because they feel the customer is ignorant of proper cleaning practices.
we vacuum and do a lot more.

Most customers of mine appreciate the fact that I show up and I am always on time. They receive a checklist from me at least 2 days early with what they need to do. Vacuuming is on that list.
That is required with the economy package. Premier is jam packed with extras and they never get a checklist. |

There is a reason for taking a vac into a job.
Make sure it looks mean and says commercial on the vac or bag. Now, sell it to them. Nothing beats your commercial vac. And make sure it is a make/model they can't buy without you. In otherwords, not sold in stores, too powerful for the average person to use but nothing cleans like this vac. I would get a good commission on one every time I sold a unit a Miller's Carpet Care in the L.A. area. Learned tons about upselling from them. We would book cheap, get ourselves in the door and sell sell sell. Just make sure you show them the proper way to vacuum. Lord knows their mothers didn't do it for them. |

Depends on the sales price. If a retail store gets 40%, what do you think is fair?

A rainbow is $800 I think. And I heard they sell them at that. Dyson is around $500 or more from what I have seen in the big box stores. So, I guess we would be looking at $399. That is what I would sell them for. Should I say that is what I have sold them for. And my label goes on each one I sell. But that is me in my business, each person decides how to conduct their own business. Most guys are too busy trying to get to the next job to go for the vacuum sale.
