40k part time might be difficult in your first year but full time would be easy but you probably won't bring that much home
depends
1st year is tough but if you work hard on building the biz it can be rewarding no shame in starting with a porty,,,especially in a city full of high rises.First thing that comes to mind is that you should make sure to have enough $$$ for plenty of supplies, marketing etc. and take it from me,,you gotta have a good operating capitol in the bank otherwise you WILL struggle
not to say you'll fail without,but it'll be a tough grind |

Right now I am currently in the same boat I am unhappy with my Carpenters job. The union wage in nyc is great, but there is at least 2 months of layoffs per year. I have been doing carpet cleaning now after work and on weekends & when I am laid off. I have been making $700 + per week cleaning carpets. I love the work and I really like going out and finding new customers. If I am doing it you can to, but you have to be dedicated to putting in the time and effort.

Yes try it is the best thing to do.....it's great to have someone guide you so you don't screw up. Listen Watch and Learn.....there is a lot more to the business than just cleaning rugs. 40k a year as an employee......maybe but highly unlikely.... working with a new company most times means starting at the bottom.... and at the bottom there will be a lot of min charge jobs and reservices to deal with. If you have some extra cash ...I'd invest it in a good used portable... pin up some flyers and go from there. with the interent you have a large support group of cleaners that will put their two cents in to start you off right. the biggest challenge in this business is getting customers to keep you boat afloat. the right advertising is expensive |

If you have never cleaned carpets before check with a local cleaner and see if he needs part time help, and than see if you like the business before taking the leap.It is a business that requires you to work long hard hours. You should be able to make your 40k within your first year if you do a great job of pleasing people with your swervice.

I started out on evenings and weekends till I could make the jump. I didn't let my employer know because it didn't affect my performance. I clean their carpets now, it's funny I make more in one evening there than I did in a couple of days on the clock.
