WHAT % OF GROSS SALES IS IN COLOUR REPAIR/CORRECTION.
Someone on the ICS board thinks we could do between $30,000 and $40,000 a year in this area?????????????????

	I've got a couple boxes of Crayolas so yeah,,I do color repair. just started but the numbers over there seem to be very inflated as usual

	Colour repair is a great upsell service if your good at it.... We don't bother with it, people complain if you can't match the colours exact.... it's like anything else..... scotchgard can add 30% to the bottom line if you can sell it.... if the avereage truck should pull in around 150 thou a year 30 thousand dollars doesn't seem an unreasonable amount... on paper that is

	i do color repair and it's no 30 or 40 k per year 10 to 15 maybe, and steamer's right you have to be good at it. but the people i do work for know not to expect an exact match, only that it will be better. i can't stress that enough... it will only be better NOT perfect.
	nothing is impossable. it just hasn't been done yet.

	No colour repair for me. I'm not IICRC certified to do it. I tried it, couldn't get good matches, so I quit doing it. I get 2 or 3 calls a year asking for it. Even if I promoted it, I would think that $3000.00/year would be more than a generous estimate

	go to Walmart and buy some FAT Crayolas you'll get a better match and you can lighten it if need be it sounds ridiculous but trust me,,it works and it's permanent (unless you WANT to take it out) saved my hide well.....................my wallet anyways

	Nope, its wax. Same when you go too dark, use white chalk.

	LilNiteRidrhood is right. In fact that is the only way I have found that works on polyester carpet. I do color repair but I don't see much of it. Just another way to be a hero. Spots over the size of your fist are a pain, easier to patch.
	CCT, UFT, OCT, CRT, RRT, WRT, SMT, FSRT, JTC, JSR, JWR, MTC a great life, if you don't weaken.

	How do you do COLOUR REPAIRS with wax crayons? Is there a trick to it or do you just draw on the floor?

	I'll share a story. Back in the late 80's. This lady was selling her home. The carpet was mauve colored and by the sliding glass door the carpet was really faded. The rest of the carpet looked practically new. As I was cleaning she came over and started talking to me and asked if I could fix the faded out spot over by the sliding glass door. Heck. I thought I could do anything. Still do :) Anyway. She left to do some errands. I finished cleaning the carpet. Took a look at the faded spot and wondered how in the hell I was going to match the color. At this time I never did any color restoration work. So I went a block down the road to a grocery store and bought some sugar free cherry (could've been strawberry I don't recall) Kool-Aide packets. Hehehehe. Came back and added a little water to a cup, mixed it up, grabbed a white towel and fixed it up. The lady returns and absolutely loved the dye job! :) Picked up an extra $200 bucks or so because I made her happy! That same week I bought a dye kit and did over $2000 in dye work.

	Spruce To re- colour using wax crayons is an old carpet makers trick. Find the nearest crayon colour of the yarn. Apply crayon to the area concerned. Place a damp cloth over the area. Place a steam iron over the cloth for a few seconds. ( Do not over heat) Remove the cloth and you should have colour transfer. Basically the heat will set the dye from the crayon into the yarn and the wax because it is warm will stick to the cloth . Results do vary dependant on fibre content. Becareful on wool as end result will be permanent.
