I've been using the original PadMad (OS) machine for almost 7 years.  I recently had a customer request to have 4000 sq.ft. of carpet to be hot water extracted.  The carpet was of the 5th generation nylon, a little better upgraded apartment carpet.  The carpet was extremely dirty with a lot of spots so I used my oscillating machine and gave the carpet a good cleaning before the extraction.  I did the job and the carpet looked great but felt somewhat stiff in places.  I used a Mytee portable with a built in heater.  I used the recommed amount Fab Set and a little of Citrus Solve from Bridgepoint to do the job.  Is there another chemical I could use in keeping the carpets soft after it dries or is there another recommended process one would advise in trying?

All feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I found that DFC leaves the carpet very soft. I'm sure you'll hear lots of conflicting opinions, though. As a booster, I'm not too happy with Citurs Solv. I use it as a spotter, and maybe I'll pre-mist with it before I do the pre-spray. Nock-it-Out, meant to be used with Xerion, is a very nice booster for bonneting and/or hwe, and it doesn't leave an oily residue like Citrus Solv or Dissolve Citrus. It's expensive, but it's also highly concentrated, so I think it's a good buy. A $90 gallon will last about six months, most likely. Just use it when you really need it.

I get it from a local supplier. Check your local guys. If they don't have it, then maybe they can order it from Chemspec for you. It's a big company, so they should be able to get it done if they feel like.

Do you mean that you have 210 and 105, or do you have Heavy Duty DFC also? Because I can't get it here yet.

Well, if you can get the Heavy Duty, then I'm in. Please PM or email me, and we'll see what we can work out. Thanks!

I like to rinse with Bridgepoints Point Blue much better than the Fab Set.
