I once had a customer turn down my service, because she had a Miller's coupon that convinced her their pet urine treatment was included for free with their basic service. Why? Because it had a cartooon picture of a dog on the coupon and no price point. Must be included! I think that was the only time I ever laughed at a cusomer in the face at their expense.
I was reminded of it because Miller's has those "2 rooms for 29.99" coupons. Worst carpet scheisters in my area. |

Well, I'm in San Diego, Ninja, so that's not so far. I believe he started the business in the northern part of San Diego back in the 70's. I was curious, so I looked him up on the Internet about a year ago. He was really successful in the carpet biz, then I think he opened up a church, and now he produces Christian music. All I can say is that there's nothing too Christian about his carpet cleaning business. The worst horror stories I've heard from customers have all been Miller stories. Seriously, no exceptions.
I didn't try to convince that lady that Miller's would screw her over, because I wanted her to have the Miller's experience. |

The reason Miller's bothers me is that they are a well established crap business. If they were fly-by-night, then I wouldn't care. They advertise really low prices very aggressively. Now sure, most of the customers they get aren't the customers I want, but it's businesses like theirs that make some people believe that those prices are really possible (e.g., I've seen as low as 7.95 per area). In other words, people form their expectations based on what's available. If that sh1t weren't available, we wouldn't have customers who believe it is.
That said, we don't really "worry" about them. I think they're irritating and I don't like them, but I could say that about all kinds of things and people that I don't "worry" about. |
