Spotting issues--We had one batch of green encap that seemed to have caused a  problem at all our commercial carpet maintenance programs. We discontinued the product since. I am scared to vary from Releasit or Procaps because I can't risk another foul up.

pop-ups--is a feature we have on the program Mistral 2000. We have the network version with 9 computers attached. When quality checking a customer, we then input the date to call them back for their next service. The CSR input their initials at the beginning of the pop up to know its theirs.
You can get a 30 trial version of Mistral at www.cyclonesolutions.com

The times are achanging Steamer.
We have just closed the Toronto office and everything is being run out of Concorde.
The advertising is being cut back by half, it takes a while for the contracts to run out.
We are doing more trade shows now, I have a lovely saleswoman who knocks on doors and follows up on estimates. She is excellent.
The call center does no cold calling. We just answer the phones and call our "pop ups" off the computer. Our database is all computerized and the repeat customers "pop up" on the screen daily with the name of the customer service rep who is supposed to call.
We are again raising our prices . I bought four new vacuums yesterday and we want to get smaller and offer a higher quality service.
I don't know who is filling your head with the nonsense that we don't green clean. This person is full of it. We had the Ministry of Labour do a spot check and when they asked for proof that we train all new employees WHMIS right away we showed them that new employees aren't even exposed to hazardous chemicals and they dropped it.
I invite you do my office anytime and see for yourself. We have stopped using the green encap because of spotting issues. We do use Releasit as an encap.
The marketing advice I can give anyone is this.
CARE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS.
Create an intimacy with them by staying in touch with a post card or flyer. Give them a spotter with your name on it. Get a logo someone can recognize when they forget your name.
It has worked for me so far.
Ted- you know me so well. Thanks my friend for watching out for my ass. I will sell the first opportunity I have and go onto inspections and teaching full time.

I was just proving my Statement to be true. No one gives away true trade secrets, they keep those for themselves. We talk about advertising here everyday, but looking back on it Lee has never had anything to say in that respect...

The thing is I know for a fact that he spends a ton of money advertising TONS!!!!!!

As for cleaning GREEN....Thats not what I hear...LOL

Steamer

Ted Harding of Kleen Kuip is not shy.  I have cut my yellow page advertising to the bone and rely on my web site, plus word of mouth works fantastic for us.

Now word of mouth works only because we have worked hard for years to have an impeccable reputation for quality service and honesty.

As far as our forum goes, it appears to cost us to keep it up and running but shows no direct profit that we can put our finger on but our web site in general keeps our phones rings.

As for Lee Senter from Fresh & Clean, I would not want to have his frustration that goes along with running a carpet cleaning company that large.  Lee loves to teach, eat and sleep Green cleaning technology.  He should sell and teach and live happily ever after.

This Is Only My Opinion.
