Have you checked to make sure your HG are in the right range. Also you can check the accuracy of your HG meter. For that matter what kind of vac relief are you using?

I guess you could try dialing it down, although the reduced vac may lead to other issues such as wicking. Give it a shot and see if it works for you

I have heard from a few guys here in Australia that there does need to be adequate ventilation around the Honda engine or they will burn valves, particularly with our climatic conditions (i.e. stinking hot!). Briggs and Stratton engines have probs as well, but haven't heard about Kohlers doing the same.
Personally I would never go for an air-cooled unit at all for several reasons; fuel consumption, longevity, servicing costs for starters as well as noise factor, but if you're stuck with it I'd suggest some better ventilation for starters, or a bigger engine if you can, or a better water-cooled machine! |

Cmaster, thanks for your replies! I think I may have miss stated my last post though. The air flow through my van would surely help, what about dailing down the vacuum to allow less strain on the engine. What do you think?

I guess it depends on the climate where you live and the design of the unit. You could leave all the doors on the van open while the unit is running to help exhaust the hot air or set up a fan blowing directly on the unit(kind of a PITA).
Have you priced a 25hp engine? It might be less expensive than doing rebuilds on your current one

Yes, I beleive your correct. To accomadate the 45 blower is it possible to allow more air flow to relieve the extra stress on the engine instead of buying a new engine right now? Also a couple of years back a friend had a water cooled 31hp kohler with a #4 blower...seems to be correct hp for blower.... and same thing happened with less than 200 hours. What do you suggest using cleaning commerical properties (Resturants) nightly??

IMO a 45 blower is too big for that engine. You need a 25 hp or larger.
Are they suggesting that the engine is overheating cuz it's in a van?? That's funny.......other manufacturers are doing it. What's their problem? Sounds like an excuse to void your warranty

honda says that it's in a inclosed van. the blower is a roots 45 and pump is AR 2500 |

Are they claiming that you're overloading the engine? What size blower and pump are you running?

 have rebuilt 20hp Honda engine on machine three times in six months they wont warranty engine because of application. any solutions on what could be wrong??? help please.
