either my humor detector is broke or I'm not getting any of this.

The loss of any life is tragic especially when it is out of pure stupidity. What carbon monoxide is about
should be taught by not only the schools but ever parent.

.... Tragic loss!

I guess to us it's just common sense, and we find it humourous that some people just don't have much. Kind sad actuallyOuch

I disagree with the statement "The loss of any life is tragic especially when it is out of pure stupidity"

Some people, no matter how many times they are told, will always try to push their luck and pay the ultimate penalty for their own terminal stupidity; it's why the Darwin Awards came into existence- it's the welcome removal of stupidity from the gene pool!

Whilst it may be tragic for those these idiots leave behind, it isn't such a tragedy for the person concerned who leaves this mortal coil, it's probably a relief cos everyone knew it was bound to happen sooner or later. Push the limits often enough and it's gonna happen!

As for running an engine in enclosed space, how many warnings do you need?? Anyone can tell you sucking in exhaust fumes a favoured way of suicide (hands up who's never ever heard of that one before??), so just cos you're not meaning to commit suicide, does it make the act tragic? Most machines also carry a warning on them not to operate in an unvented area (my Prochem does), and whilst yes, the carbon monoxide is poisonous, it's not the only gas emitted; who cannot smell exhaust fumes? I know I always can, and find them nauseating to say the least, so if I'm working in a place where I can smell exhaust, why would I keep going? Common sense would dictate I do something about it, whether my customer liked it or not or my work mate liked it or not.

It's strange how the world we live in has become completely without responsibility (or so it seems). Whenever anything goes wrong it's always someone else's fault, never the person who suffers the consequence, irrespective of whether they could have avoided the situation or not.

Pretty pathetic state of affairs really, western society really has become a lot of nancy boys that are incapable of looking after themselves IMO, and by the way, I'm not saying we can't be adventurous; I like high speeds (have my own little race car, motorbike and modified road car) and some other types of "risky behaviours", but I do it in a controlled environment with at least a modicum of thought before blindly rushing off and doing it. Anything happens, it's my responsibility, not anyone else's. If I happen to cease my existence in the pursuit of my hobbies, it might be tragic, cos the execution of my planning may have been at fault, but at least it was done as "safely" as possible, but to completely flout the obvious dangers... well, I can't feel too sorry for you if you truly are that stupid to think you're invincible!!

Great post Franco. I have to agree that exhaust fumes have a rather noticeable odour. We have had to move our vehicles on a few occasions when the wind carried them into the buildings we were cleaningOuch
