Buy what you can afford. Being a POG is nothing to be ashamed of. Having a TM just makes life easier, has nothing to do with how good of a cleaner you are. |

I personallly wish I 'd of started with a porty
I woulda paid cash for my first TM instead of them dang payments,,,which kinda made themselves but it was always hanging over my head.....

but after working in the biz for 4 years using TM's I was a little spoiled I guess
plus there was a chevy with a Cleanco Compact 47 with 1400hrs for sale down the street Edited by Steaminpile |

I've thought over the tm thing a lot also. I would just need to know that it will eventually pay for itself. In order to run a tm, I need a bigger van to handle it, which means greater expense in the areas of purchase price, gas, and maintenance; I need to pay the several thousands of dollars more for the tm itself; I need to accept the added maintenance of having a much more complex piece of machinery in my arsenal; I have the extra fuel costs of the unit to consider.
I know exactly what you mean, Steaminpile. You got a truckmount right away because that's what you were used to, right? The idea of taking a step down probably wasn't too attractive. It was the same thing for me, except I came from a Chem-Dry background. I felt that I needed to have at least as good a rig as I had with CD, so I knew I'd get a powered wand. I've never worked with a truckmount, though, so I didn't feel as compelled. But the main thing is that I was spoiled. I never wanted to push a wand all day (neither did my partner), so we never even considered passing up getting a powered wand. Sometimes I wish I were using a standard wand . . . . |

Does your low center of gravity help you lift that porty in and out of the van more easily?
