Good idea or not?

You are doing it the hard way. Just use compressed air to blow the water out of the lines and pump. The latent heat in the water is enough to stop the water in the tank from freezing.

Just what Hammy said.. oil filled radiator heater from Wal-Mart.. I used 2 in my Van last winter. One on each side set at low or medium, depending how cold it got. And it always stayed above 32f

These home fires are from bad wiring in older homes usually.

After your first freezup you will be putting a space heater inside your van. Look at the oil filled units much safer!

Could somebody just clean my carpets!

When you are 24 and a newlywed, that just bought your first house and just started your first company right out of college you tend to try and get away with things like this. First off the intentions were to move and get a place with a large garage, but since the economy in Michigan is struggling you basically stay put in the house you are in. Secondly why would I want to put a ticking time bomb in my van? $50,000 worth of van and equipment with a space heater, I am not comfortible with that. Read these two links and see why I would not want to put a space heater overnight in my vehicle.

I have a thermometor in the truck right now which reads 48 degrees and the temp outside is 27. So right now I am good with my rigged up tarp and thermal blanket. This may or may not solve my problem, but until my winterizing kit comes in, it will have to do. Good thing this is the last of the freezing temps at night.....well at least for a week that is.

Why would you want to even take a chance on freezup. I cannot understand why someone would spend that kind of money and, A - not have proper storage, B - want to experiment with keeping the unit from freezing. Insulate the van and put a space heater in it.

No I haven't, what is your idea? I talked with Bane Clene today and they said I can rig up a RV anti freeze solution which would go through the tank and I would have to blow it out every morning. I guess I am trying to find a quick and easy method, something which doesn't take 10-15 minutes while standing in the 15 degree wind chill weather (and its Nov. 2nd) and something which is 100% effective. Let me know what your thought was.

Sounds like an interesting idea, make use of the heat you have.., have you considered rigging up a small pump to keep that heated water flowing through your lines?

	iF THE VAN IS WARM AND THE STEAM COOLS TO THE AMBIANT SPACE TEMPERATURE AT A QUICK ENOUGH PACE.........THERE WOULD BE NO CONDENSATION AT THAT POINT, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE HEAT GENERATED FROM THE HOLDING TANKS NIGHTRIDER

	LOL if only that would work. The problem is more then height, it is length as well. I have the extended version, so height nor length will work. Welcome to my world. As far as condensation, I would have it when it was warm as well wouldn't I? I did not experience it at all since I have plugged my van in.....and that is basically every night for three weeks. So I am wondering if I am in the clear with that??

	The hole is in the water tank so it does not collapse when you are using the water. It would create a vacuum if it could not replace the water with air as you worked.

	I can't really controll the humidity level.....the hole in the cap was Bane's doing, not mine. I am assuming it is there for a reason. There is not a lot of humidity to the point where persperation is forming (not even close) just enough though that I think I can use it to keep from freezing. The water tank is all insulated, so that heat does not effect the core temp of the vehicle. I am just trying to recover the warm "puff" of steam from time to time to keep everything above 32 degrees.

	I think you are pumping way too much humidity into your van. If it ever froze you would torch to get into it. Another thing all that humidity can't be good ?
