Upgrade Vac Motors?

If there's room for the bigger motors, there's a way, but you'll have to make it work. I know that upgrading Mytee motors, for example, requires different bolts and mounts. I've upgraded plenty of machines, but not using the manufacturer's parts. The only things you need to do are make sure there's room, that the motors are secure, and that there's pleny of ventilation. You also need to make sure that you're not pulling so may amps that you trip circuits. If you went back to that guy an put it the way I just did, I bet he'd agree with me.

Thanks guys. That's the option I'm really looking at. By the way, you're right, Hammer--the guy at the shop said more or less the same thing. He also said that increased power won't help much unless I get larger hoses.

Not true. First of all, the waterlift (the "pull," if you will) really isn't related to the hoses. It will be increased quite a bit, regardless of the hose.

The cfm (airflow), in general, will be just a tiny bit lower (usually in the single digits)with the bigger motors. That guy you're talking to is thinking that the cfm will be increased, but it won't. Even if it were, you'd still see the affect of the higher cfm, because your hose can handle much more than you're presently using. (Also, hoses are pretty cheap, so who cares?)

If, for example, you add the box Ted showed, you'd increase the cfm by 50%, but the waterlift will be about the same, because it will always hover around the level of the weakest vacuum port. With higher cfm you should think about bigger hoses.

In short, without the bigger motors, you won't increase waterlift. Without the box Ted showed, you won't increase cfm.

Yes, we sell this system for approx. $700

We find that our clients love this system. It gives them more cleaning confidience, greater speed and happier customers. Although you may need to add additional defoamers to your soil tank.

We have found that the extra and extreme suction will actually lift wet foam off the top of the dirty water in your soil tank and push it through the vac motors causing premature burn-out. I guess it's all in a days work and a trade-off as to your direct costs to happier and more customers.

P.S.

This system was actually built for the Ninja to be able to clean out duct work by adding a brush spinner to the end of a 1 1/2" vac hose. Using it to clean carpets with higher lift was discovered by accident.
