I would like to add that you should not pay any mind to the porty shootout at TM forum, where they tested used, beaten up and lower tier models against one another. Their primary critic is nothing more than a broke janitor, who brought in his beaten up, used machines and compared them to one another. While I agree with some of his criticisms toward the Recoil, his particular unit was bought used and damaged. In addition, he did not know the age or efficiency of the vac motors inside it. They could have been running at 50% for all we know.
How can somebody claim to have a valid porty shootout with used equipment? Despite what they claim over there, Locko is no expert on portables or carpet cleaning. He keeps criticizing the Recoil's performance based on his busted up machine. Successful portable users need to have an aptitude for diagnosing problems and that fool merely quits and blames the machine every time he gets himself in a "pickle".
In my opinion, the Mytee M5 is a great choice but even so, it sports some shortcuts that need to be addressed. Despite all its design flaws, the Recoil remains one of the better choices as well.
I just don't believe that there are many good portables out there to choose from. At least the Recoil has a good pump, decent vacuum power, auto fill, auto dump. Personally, I prefer the horizontal body style over the newer style upright designs. if Ed Valentine would address some of the design shortcomings of the Recoil, he would have a real winner. As it stands, I would pick the M5 (which in fact I did).

News Flash!!
The first Air hogs were sent out with the wrong screen ball filters at the bottom of the waste tanks and that is why they were clogging. The ones they came with were not supposed to be used in a waste tank but rather, for a fresh water tank. The mesh is much finer and clogs quickly in a waste tank. Mytee is asking that all buyers contact them or have their distributors change out the waste tank screen filter for the correct one.

In all fairness, I don't think Locko ever criticized the Recoils performance. Just some design flaws.
And like you've stated, there isn't a perfect portable. They all have flaws. One thing I appreciate about John L is his willingness to listen to the end users and make changes when needed. I'm sure he will listen to the feedback on the AirHog as well and make any needed changes and take care of those who have already purchased the unit. |

Actually, Locko criticized the performance as well and raved about how the Recoil left a carpet soaked on a job. I agree with some of his criticisms about the design but he even went too far with that, saying the wheels should be out more from the back. The guy is a janitor hack and isn't in any position to criticize anything. His Recoil was broken when he got it and the vac motors were probably out of life. How is any machine in that condition fit for a shootout?

Well, my choices would be the Mytee breeze, recoil 3xps or Olympus machines.
That's just my opinion.

For my money go with the Ninja 500 psi with the Fasco motor, not the Leeson motor
Being a user and service center I would recommend not having the pump set at 500 psi more a like 250, as it puts a stain on the motor and with 2x3 stage vacuums 250 is all these vacuum can handle, without having to over and over the capet to dry it off. |

You are right there, there is no portable that does not give trouble, however, some portables to have body problems, they crack behind the switch panel, im not going to publically pull the manfactures machines apart |

Pull the trump card and blame it on the unit............
We all know it was lockos performance that left the carpets soaked. You can use a 2x2 stage and get decent dry times on any carpet. I've done it boo-koo times!
And I'm sure many of you have.
We know its mainly your wand/tool technique..your method.. your style..
95% of ccers leave carpets/upholstery half dirty and sopped, in a hurry to get paid.

Ofcourse, Alex, as always "forgot" to mention that that Recoil system WAS PURCHASED used.
Hummm. Wonder why Alexarz has to hide behind 5 or 6 different fake names? One would think that if someone criticizes the same machine and persons who build them that they would responsibility have the guts to use their REAL name.
Wonder where he has been lately? Probably playing in his sandbox.
Very best and thanks, John L, for not only using your real name, but also having had years of experience with the RECOIL systems which is 360 degrees different than what Alex (has never operated btw) spews.
Very best to all;
Ed Valentine
