I use a Royal vacuum with a hepa filter, and I vacuum on every single job, even if they vacuumed before me. But that's step two; step one is hand-brushing all the edges and corners. Beginning the job with something the customer probably has never seen another cleaner take the time to do is a great way to immediately impress them.

If you carry a vacuum you should use a hepa. We use turbo vacs and run them threw the truck. You can charge more to vacuum and most people will pay. If your Vacuum is no better than homeowners you should leave it in the truck. On the vacuum kick we only vacuum the traffic areas and enterances. We are not a domestic service.

Probably would be a good idea for us as carpet cleaners to carry vacuums on board our trucks.

Dry vacuuming carpet prior to wet cleaning should be like bacon & eggs. Common sense says take the dry soil away before making mud with moisture cleaning. I would like to think I am correct in saying this. But, no more than 2% of our customers own a vacuum cleaner. We would like your thoughts and opinions. Edited by Carpetologist |
