And ... they charge more for porty cleaning.  There is a disclaimer on their pricing page about that.  So yes, even the big national guys use more than a TM and they get more for doing it.  So much for TMs should get more money.

Portable equipment may be required for areas above the 2nd floor or if guaranteed adjacent parking is not available. Use of portable equipment may result in a higher required job minimum or a price increase, with necessary price adjustments made at time of service. Contact your local Stanley Steemer for more information.

1. Pump Sprayer
2. Grooming Rake

The customer is paying for two things in all labor from anyone including the plumber, auto mechanic and you:

A. Necessary Equipment and Tools (includes the protector)
B. The knowledge and experience at using those tools and equipment

The mechanic puts in a $1 part and charges you $50 labor.

I include it, prices support it.  I weed out the caliber of customer I don't want and get only those who are serious about caring for their carpet.  Those who just want it clean go elsewhere.  Fewer jobs but more profits with lower costs and reduced labor.

Are you in a high paying business or are you just a self employed low paid grunt who thinks this business provides dignity?

20 cents per square foot for scotchgard. Also be sure to push that deodorizer. That's where the real easy money is.
